Anne Ferguson, HCHI, CD(DONA) Doula Profile

I am very grateful that my husband and I had Anne for our first birthing experience.  Anne was available with an abundance of useful information throughout the pregnancy.  Her help greatly contributed to the calm and smooth birth of our daughter.  I especially appreciated her attention to our birthing plan and her assistance ensuring that it was followed as closely as possible.  Anne is kind and thoughtful.  I would highly recommend her doula services.

Having Anne as our doula was a great choice.  She taught and prepared us during the prenatal appointments and was a great resource to have throughout the birthing process.  We were very impressed by her knowledge of the birthing process and she helped make our birth very relaxing. I would definitely recommend Anne if you are looking for a birth doula.

Anne's presence at the birth of our second child gave my husband and I the support and confiendce we needed to welcome our child into this world the way we had planned.  We envisioned a drug free birth in a hospital with a midwife, and were open to a waterbirth.  Anne helped us to make sure we had prepared as needed by offering resources for reading and viewing.  She also spoke with us multiple times prior to the birth to make sure she understood exactly what our wishes and goals of the birth entailed.  When we toured the birth center at our local hospital Anne was able to accompany us and allow us to envision our options.  She also educated us in regards to placenta encapsulation, a service she provides.

When the time of the birth drew near, she was readily available (even for a little "false labor").  On the night of the birth she arrived with extra energy drinks for myself (the mother) as well as supplies to get herself through the labor process.  She documented details about the beginning stages of labor to help us remember the entire process.  She supported myself and my husband while at home by keeping the mood light and making sure we were sticking to our plans.  When we arrived at the hospital Anne was a great support for helping me to ask the right questions to the midwife and nurses.    Anne helped my husband to provide appropriate support to me throughout the birth process, such as suggesting that he walk and stand with me as the contractions became more intense, or getting into the tub with me to ease the pushing stage. 

As the baby was born Anne helped to make sure that our son stayed with me according to our plans.  She also stayed to make sure that he was able to latch on and begin breastfeeding. 

One of the things I am most grateful for is the record she kept the birth and provided to us, what a wonderful memory to have!
