Words can not explain how much I love Tonya! I was seventeen years old and a senior in high school when I became pregnant. I was good friends with her son and he told me she was a doula. I had no clue what a doula was. I also didn't have clue what to expect when I went into labor, so I thought what could it hurt. After giving birth, I couldn't thank her enough! Even though I was a young mother to be, she treated me with the utmost respect! She told me everything i needed to know, in plain English. We mainly communicated through text messages, which was very convenient for me because I was still busy with school. We also had several house visits. I remember it like it was yesterday, it was five days before my due date and I was at a basketball games. She was texting me, telling me basically to have intercourse with my boyfriend to help induce my labor. I thought that was the funniest thing ever, for her to tell me that. About 4 a.m. that next morning, without doing what she recommended, I was calling her, because I was peeing on myself and I couldn't stop it! I would call her about anything, before even calling my doctor. She immediately came to my house. She did some movements while I was having contractions, that made the pain almost go away. At the hospital, she did everything for me besides the pushing! My contractions started about 3 a.m. and I had my son at 8:16 a.m. with absolutely no complications. I told her i didn't want to use any medications and with her techniques, I was able to do so. My doctor was astonished with how easy my labor was, he said he couldn't believe I did so well. I would recommend Tonya to any mother to be, young or old. She gets a five star rating from me and two thumbs up!
