From the moment we met Julie, we felt connected to her and knew that she would help us achieve a positive birth experience. We immediately connected with Julie's personality and philosophy.  Throughout our entire birth, Julie was the exact support we needed. Even though I had to be induced, Julie helped me to acheive a natural labor and delivery--somethng I'm not sure I could have done without her. From her encouraging words, massages, conversation and belief in me, she was everything I needed in a doula to embrace and endure my daughter's labor and delivery. Julie is a magnificent doula.  I give her my highest recommendation.  She is warm, down to earth, and kind, with a reassuring, gentle presence.  Julie has a calling for this work, and my husband and I feel truly blessed that she was a part of our son's birth.  I was in labor for about 45 hours, and Julie was there every step of the way, explaining what was going on, answering our questions, and providing unwavering support.  She even helped our family members that were anxiously awaiting news of the birth in the waiting room!  She gave them updates and reassured them that I was okay.  After the birth, Julie stayed to help me learn to breastfeed my son.  When she came to our home a few weeks later, Julie wrote such a beautiful birth story, it brought tears to my eyes (it still does- every time I read it!)  I am so incredibly grateful to Julie- she is a beautiful person and a fantastic doula.  I'm so glad she was part of this amazing time in our lives.

Julie went over and above my expectations for a doula -- I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking support for natural childbirth or labor in general. At first, I wasn't sure about hiring a doula, but having Julie's help was the best decision I could have made. I am certain her instruction and caring approach was the reason I as a first-time mother felt capable of having a natural birth. My husband and I both felt really comfortable with her and happy to have her supporting both of us through the process. Her instruction before labor helped lay out clearly what to expect and all the things I would need to think about at the hospital. Throughout the labor process, she acted as an advocate for my needs and stayed up all night helping with massage, positioning, and other strategies. Even when I felt stressed and uncertain, she was there with a calm presence and reassurance that I could do it. She worked extremely well with the hospital staff, and I felt that she earned the respect of the many doctors and nurses around that night. She also took beautiful pictures of my daughter and me right after birth that my relatives continue to compliment me on. Even a week after labor, she came to our house for a "check-up"' and brought a beautiful sling we continue to use. Julie really seems to have a calling for this work, and manages to be both supportive and non-invasive in helping each woman have the birth she wants.

I was so thankful to have Julie with me and my husband for the birth of my daughter. I did not use the services of a doula for the birth of my son two years ago, but wish I would have known how wonderful it is to have another woman coaching you through labor and delivery. Julie is professional, down-to-earth and compassionate. She also has a great sense of humor. After my first meeting with her I felt more confident  about attempting a natural childbrith knowing she'd be with me the whole time with suggestions and encouraging words. She helped me mentally prepare for labor. On my daughter's birthday she arrived before dawn and throughout the morning anticipated my needs and the needs of my family before I even had to ask for help. Her presence was calming and she seemed to know just what to say at difficult moments. Both her practical help (timing contractions) and empathetic words (during painful post-partum repair) made her invaluable for a positive birth experience. I would recommend her to anyone in the Boston area looking for an amazing doula.

Right from the first time we met, my husband and I felt so comfortable with Julie.  She is very knowledgable, but also so kind and willing to support us in whatever we chose.  On the day of the birth, Julie could not have been more wonderful.  For 10 hours in the hospital, she never took a break or left our side, always offering new ideas and tips.  She was incredibly patient and selfless; for hours she gently massaged my back and helped comfort me with her soothing words.  She was also very encouraging of my husband and helped to make it a special time for both of us; for example, she showed him how to help by pouring warm water down my back when I was laboring in the tub. In short, she did whatever was needed and so much more.  After the birth, she held my hand and talked to me while I was being stitched up, stayed to teach me about breastfeeding, and helped us to get settled in our room.  For our visit the week after the birth, she had written up a beautiful story of our son's birth that brought tears to my eyes, and she sewed a beautiful sling for us to use. 

Our childbirth experience could not have been the same without Julie, and I cannot say enough good things to recommend her.

Working with Julie was a pleasure. Her ability to know her clients needs and provide for them without interruption was beautiful. As a labor nurse I enjoyed working with Julie. Mary and Julie partnered to provide prenatal, labor and post partum support for us. Mary was available for any questions that I had, lots of laughter, and made me feel empowered and confident in preparing for the birth.
