Relevant volunteer or advocacy work: I currently co-facilitate a birth story circle, Birth Talk Los Alamos. The purpose of the birth circle is to create a safe space for women and their partners to share their birth experiences, the ones they hope for and the ones they have had. We intend for the circle to provide a community of support for women's birth choices and experiences, and provide resources by and for the participants.
I am also involved with a local group of doulas who regularly present information about doula support during pregnancy and labor to the local hospital's childbirth education classes. We also occasionally offer free classes related to pregnancy and childbirth to the community.
I have a lot of experience supporting women through their pregnancy journeys, and look forward to increasing my experience in supporting their labor and birth journeys.
Attends hospital births? All Hospitals Attends birth center births? Some Birth Centers At this time, the Northern New Mexico Midwifery Center in Taos does not allow doulas to attend women at their birth center. If the policy changes, I would be happy to support your birth experience there. If you plan to birth there, but wish to hire me anyway, I would be happy to support you until you leave for or are admitted to the Midwifery Center. Attends home births? Any Home Birth If you are contemplating birthing at home unassisted (UC or freebirth), please let me know this up front and why you want a doula to be present.
Birth doula fee: Not specified Fee details: Negotiable.
