Client Testimonials for Grace Markey

I highly recommend Grace as a Doula. My experience delivering Koa was a LONG and an AMAZING experience. Grace was such a positive attribute. I was able to do an all-natural water birth with the support she offered. Koa was a little stubborn on making his grand entrance into the world. He was two weeks late so I reluctantly was scheduled to be induced. I was worried that I would not be able to follow the birthing plan that I wanted. However, after two long rounds of cervadil I was able to continue the labor on my own without the help of any other drugs. I entered the hospital at midnight on Friday, July 1st and Koa arrived Sunday, July 3rd at 7:12 AM. Grace had met us at the hospital early Saturday morning. Things got off to a slow start but she was very comforting every minute. She did foot and hand massages, walked the hospital halls countless times. When labor really started to get intense I was all over the place. I was in the hospital bed, on a birthing ball, in the shower and laboring in the tub. Grace was so knowledgeable on different positions and different ways to help me stay as comfortable as possible. She also was great at encouraging my significant other on ways to help get me through the intense contractions. I don’t know if I would have been able to manage without her. She was with us for over 24 hours and she never missed a beat. My words can’t begin to describe the gratitude and thanks I feel she deserves. She is a wonderful doula who is very passionate in her role.
Sincerely,
Liz Sabatini

My experience delivering Bella was a pretty frustrating birth overall. However, I do believe that if Grace were not there, coaching my husband and I, as well as advocating for me with the medical specialists (who seemed to want to push every medical intervention on me as possible), I am pretty sure my delivery would have resulted in an unneccessary C-section. The best thing at the end while I was pushing, was Grace's calm spirit, encouraging me to trust my body and allow my body to do what it already knew how to do, even though the medical professionals were telling me otherwise. Grace also seem to just know what I needed without me having to say anything. The cold cloth on my forehead during pushing was an unspoken need that was met. I can never thank you enough Grace!

I would recommend Grace Markey as a Doula. She has a strong knowledge base and her passion for what she does is obvious. I had a difficult labor and delivery experience and Grace provided exactly what I needed every step of the way. She gave me emotional support simply by being present in the room but also constantly carried a calm demeanor and answered every question I had about the labor and birthing experience. I can't stress enough that I could not have done what I did without her. I think the most important part of having her there to support me, was the fact that while thigns didnt go as planned I was able to look back knowing I had constant support and made educated decisions and had someone knowledgeable to discuss ideas off of for how to handle the next hurdle.

Grace really lives up to her name. As a mom and Doula myself, I can tell you that Grace is amazing at what she does and you CANNOT go wrong habing her by your side duing labor. My labor was a quick one, once we got to the hospital, but Grace never skipped a beat. She came in ready to serve and assist, immediately helping me position and find the most comforting way to deal with each contraction. I knew I NEEDED another woman by my side to distract me and keep me focused all at the same time, and she was up for the challenge. She never left my side, even when I went to labor in the shower she was there, applying counter pressure to my back (which was SO PERFECT) and talking to me during each contraction. She didnt care she was getting wet and standing in a bathroom full of steam. She just served my needs perfectly. After a mere 90 minutes of laboring at the hospital, Grace stayed by my side as I welcomed by beautiful, precious little girl into the world after only 5 minutes of pushing. Thank you Grace, for being exactly what I needed and filling my birth with the healing and GRACE I needed.
