Christie Gumble Doula Profile

I interviewed several doulas and midwives and Christie really stood out. It was clear that it's not about money for her. Christie is all about mom's and babies and it's obvious that this is truly her passion.

Christie was supportive and available throughout my pregnancy. She encouraged me to call her with any questions, at literally any time. She was always available and caring. She came to my house before the birth and showed me and my husband techniques to help relieve pain while in labor (which work great for everyday pregnancy aches too) and having her guidance was really empowering to me as a first time mom.

During my labor Christie was completely intuitive and knew exactly how to help me even though I was too focused to be able to verbalize. She helped my husband be a better labor partner which really included him in the whole process so he didn't have to feel like a bystander. For hours and hours she wiped my face, pulled my hair back, helped me move around, rubbed my shoulders and talked me through my contractions. She kept me going.

After 42 weeks of pregnancy, an infection, and 24 hours of labor I gave birth, vaginally, to a 10 lb 11oz baby boy without even tearing. We were both perfectly healthy. I was able to pull the baby onto my chest and nurse as soon as he came out. I had the perfect birth experience. This was my first baby and I know that Christie was what kept me from having a c section. She made me understand exactly what I needed to do while I was pushing, helped support my shoulders and took the weight off of me. She was an absolute Godsend. I will definitely use her for our next baby.

I recommend Christie as a doula with my whole heart. Every woman, whether it's her first or fourth baby, will benefit from having Christie attend their birth. I cannot say enough good things about her.

Christie was a huge part of a successful birth! My husband and I wanted to give birth at a midwifery center, but because I was considered high risk, that wasn’t going to be an option. Since this was our first child, we were nervous about being pushed around or told what to do by doctors with an agenda, instead of having options and decisions we could make. We decided a doula would be essential so that we could start the birthing process as naturally as possible. Christie has such a calming influence that we knew we would be in good hands. At the hospital, she taught my husband some techniques to help me through contractions, enabling him to be a huge part of my labor. Christie had several suggestions of ways to labor, which ultimately allowed us the freedom to move around the room and not have stay on the bed being monitored for the majority of my labor. We felt so blessed to have a healthy baby girl along with a great hospital experience - and we believe Christie helped us to obtain that. My husband and I agreed that the smartest decision we could have made was to have our doula there with us!
