Antepartum doula
Relevant volunteer or advocacy work: I am a volunteer in Operation Special Delivery, which provides trained volunteer doulas for pregnant women whose husbands or partners have been severely injured or who have lost their lives due to the current war on terror, or who will be deployed, or otherwise unable to attend the birth due to military reasons.
Postpartum limits/restrictions: I do not/ will not support formula-feeding (unless truly medically necessary), smoking of tobacco cigarettes, or crying it out/ "sleep training" as they are unhealthy and unsafe to the child, and in most cases the mother as well.
Attends hospital births? All Hospitals As long as the hospital permits doulas. However, I do not/ will not support elective Cesarean section surgeries (c-sectons for true medical reasons are not elective, they are life saving) or formula-feeding (unless truly medically necessary). **** Basic Birth Package**** Free Consultation; Unlimited, but hopefully 3/ 4 prenatal meetings (1 MINIMUM); Unlimited Phone and E-Mail Support; Free Access to Personal Library; Detailed Discussions about Personal Preferences in Regards to Birth; Assessment of Knowledge Regarding the Birth Process; Suggestions of Natural Remedies to Discomforts of Pregnancy; Ideas of how to Communicate Effectively with Care Providers; Custom Education on the Birth Process and Related Topics; Evidence Based Information to Support Informed Decisions; Custom Education on Breastfeeding, Newborn Care and Related Topics; Build or Assess/ Review a Detailed Personalized Birth Plan; On-call from 2 weeks before EDD; Clients Discretion of When and Where they are Joined During Labor; A Variety of Alternative Pain Relief Measures During Labor; Continuous and Uninterrupted Support During Labor and Delivery; First Hours Postpartum Support (Normally until Proper Latch is Achieved, unless other arrangements are made); Birth Story - From The Doula's Eyes (Upon Request); First Picture of New Family/ Newborn E-mail to Friends and Family (Upon Request); Postpartum Summary of Birth; Minimum 3 Postpartum Visits (1 or 2 days After Birth or 1st or 2nd Day Home, About 6 Weeks, About 3 or 4 Months); Ongoing Support till 6 Months. I do not/ will not support formula-feeding (unless truly medically necessary). ** For list of Basic Birth Package please see hospital birth. Attends home births? Any Home Birth I support births at home which are attended by a midwife as well as births at home which are unassisted (though clients will need to be educated on all risks and emergency measures in addition to the process of birth). Where and how a woman births is her choice! ** For a list of basic services see hospital birth.
Birth doula fee: Not specified Postpartum doula hourly rate: Not specified Fee details: I offer a variety of services so clients can decide what is right for them - more than is listed on this page and I provide referrals to community resources as needed. I believe every woman who wants a doula should have one & money should not be an obstacle to having a doula, birthing naturally, breastfeeding or providing proper communication for elimination, so I offer a sliding scale & payment plan on a case by case basis, support barter/ trade for payment in full or in part & work with insurances for reimbursement. With that said a deposit is due when a client signs up, and for birth services the remainder is due by the 36th week of pregnancy. Please contact me if you are interested in my services and we can discuss your individual needs. Price List available upon request.
