After interviewing several Doulas in the area my husband and I decided to choose Alyssa for the natural birth of our little girl. When interviewing/meeting with Alyssa she was very professional, organized and extremely passionate about what she does. She is someone you just want to know and be around. She was very concerned about what we wanted for the birth of our little girl and was very helpful in making sure that happened. I loved that we met with Alyssa seveal times before birth, so I felt like I knew her and she knew me before going into the birth. It wasnt until I actually went into labor that I realized what an amazing Doula Alyssa is. There is no way I could have achieved the natural childbirth I wanted without her help. She was amazing !
Whether you have a natural birth, a medicated birth, or a C-Section, I highly recommend Alyssa to be there to support you. She is extremely nurturing and calm and knows what you need even when you dont know what you need.
We had a wonderful experience with Alyssa. From our first meeting, Alyssa was warm, knowledgeable, and focused first and foremost on our hopes and expectations for our son's birth. I was able to have a drug-free birth with Alyssa's help. She was very supportive of our choices, and met with us again after our son's birth to share his written birth story and process the birth experience with us. When labor got really intense, Alyssa helped me to keep my voice low and make it through transition. My husband and mother were also active support people for me, and Alyssa worked perfectly with them, never making them feel pushed aside and letting them know how much their help was valued. Her participation in my labor and birth was a crucial component in my ability to deliver without medication, and I wouldn't consider giving birth again without her!
My husband, Ryan, and I were excited about a natural birth for our first child. We read all the books and talked to people who encouraged us, but we were clueless and terrified until we talked with Alyssa about being our Doula. Her confidence in what the woman’s body was created to do comforted us right away. She took all the time we needed to cover every aspect of what we wanted and expected from childbirth. Then she prepared us for all options, giving us a realistic plan for each scenario. It felt really good to know that there was someone we could call with each little question and to coach us through braxton hicks contractions into labor. Alyssa was there with us each step of the way, encouraging both of us and helping me change positions and try different things to keep my labor moving forward. Thanks to her knowledge and support, my first birth was a complete success! After 4 ½ hours, our baby girl was born naturally. Looking back, Ryan and I both agree that without her, the day would have been filled with fear, hesitation and pain – instead, we were loved, comforted, and encouraged! Every new mom has questions after the birth of their child. The beauty of having Alyssa as my Doula is that any time I face a new phase or just feel overwhelmed, I know who to call!
Alyssa was fantastic. Her personal and professional experience made her the ideal doula for us.
She attended the birth of my second baby, which was a VBAC. After a very traumatic first birth experience, I decided that with baby number two, I would try to do everything different from the first time. So, I hired a doula, and decided against using any pain medication during the birth. Alyssa also suggested we take a VBAC class and to use a aquadoula labor tub. We followed both of these suggestions and they were so helpful!
Because of my insulin dependent gestational diabetes, a repeat c-section was scheduled for just 2 days after my due date. I got more and more nervous as the weeks of my last trimester went by. I emailed Alyssa weekly with status updates and she always responded with caring and encouragement, helping me to find peace with my decisions.
Alyssa was there through my labor and birth of my son, encouraging me and helping me focus. When transition hit and I begged and pleaded for the nurse to give me pain medication, she continued to help me work through the pain and make it through without the drugs I thought I had to have.
I'm so thrilled to have had the birth experience I was desiring - an unmedicated VBAC. Alyssa was truly a blessing, and I don't think I could have done it without her! I am so thankful that I was able to find a Christian doula that shares my faith to help me welcome my son into the world.
