Kim Racette Doula Profile

 Kim provided for a comfortable, peaceful and calm birthing experience for my husband and I. She met with us multiple times before delivery to understand the kind of birth we wanted. During these meeting she helped us to think about options that we would not have otherwise know or thought to consider. With this we went into delivery with a sense of securtiy knowing Kim would be by our side. She had all the tools and coaching techniques necessary to help me acheive a natural birth. When I would start to get tired during labor I remeber looking at Kim and she not only offered the techniques to keep me going but she remined me of the precious miricle that was about to arrive.   My husband would also say  Kim helped him to be the Coach that I needed him to be. Looking back at my birthing experience I cant help but smile as I will always rember it for the positive experience that it was and Kim had a huge part in making that possible with her patience, and love for life. My husband and I feel so very blessed to have Kim Rachette as our Doula!

I knew that Kim would be a good doula for me when I felt more confident about the birth after our initial interview. She spent time getting to know our preferences for birth and always made it clear that she was available by phone for any questions we had leading up to the birth.

When the very beginings of labor started, on Christmas day, Kim answered the phone right away when I called her and again made me feel confident in the upcoming birth. When several hours went by without much happening, she took the initiative to call me to see how things were going.

Once we arrived at the hospital the next day, Kim showed up shortly afterward and was in the room with me continuously until the birth 16 hours later. She knew just when to intervene and make suggestions, and when to give me space. She worked very well with everyone else in the room: my husband, the midwife, the nurses, and my mother and sister. My husband is especially very thankful that she was there to assist us.

I got the birth that I had hoped for, natural and without interventions, and I owe a lot of that to Kim's support. She truly helped me maintain my confidence, calm, and stamina throughout the long labor.

After the birth, she stayed for an hour to make sure things were ok. Two weeks later she came by our house to check on us and meet our son.

I'm very glad that we chose Kim as our doula!

I had a first time birth at UNM Hospital on 11/28/10 with Kim providing doula services for me.

It was a wonderful and truly pleasant experience and mostly due to professional support that Kim provided. Mrs. Racette has demonstrated an outstanding qualities as a doula, the level of psychological  and emotional support she provided before, during and after the birth was far beyond our brightest expectations. Kim has undoubtedly demonstrated that she is not only a highly qualified professional in the field of birth support, but also a caring and heartful person who is going to be by your side in any situation. Hospital stuff was treated as partners with no hostility and stress, birth plan was followed and I was able to give a natural birth I have always wanted. We all acted as one strong team and this is all thanks to Kim.
