Client Testimonials for Nikki Sculley
Lindie C.
When I first began birth planning, I wasn’t even certain I needed a doula. I knew that being in that much pain, I may not want anyone around but my husband. I felt that he would be all the support that I needed.
I am so happy that we decided to hire Nikki. As it turned out, I had a long and difficult labor and my husband could not have done it alone. He felt completely lost after my water broke and I went from the wife he knew to a wild animal that could not open my eyes much less answer questions. Nikki stepped in (without getting between he and I or making him feel pushed aside, which was key) and guided us both through the experience. I felt comfort by the deep moans that got me through each contraction and she moaned along with me, encouraging my husband to do the same. She reminded me to drink water between contractions so I would not get dehydrated. Even when I angrily refused, she was able to coax me to take sips at a time, never taking offense to my growling rejection of her help. As my stubborn cervix refused to dilate for hours on end, she gently encouraged me through different laboring positions in order to encourage progression.
But Nikki’s assistance went way beyond just labor and delivery support. She helped me put together a birth plan, took pregnancy portraits, and photographed the entire labor/delivery (I barely knew she was doing it). They turned out BEAUTIFULLY! She is not only a wonderful doula, but also a talented photographer as well. During my labor, Nikki acted as a go between, carrying updates to my family and friends who were waiting in the waiting room. I have no idea how she managed to be all of these places at once without even breaking a sweat. Not for a moment did I sense a bit of stress or wear from her.
Nikki was born to be a doula. She has a calm, cool, energy that cannot be learned. There is no better person to support you through the most challenging thing you will ever face.
