Client Testimonials for Amy Ortega
Meghan Stromberg
I had a fast and intense labor, and was confined to the bed for a time because of monitors. Things were not going the way I had planned and I was discouraged, but Amy was a supportive and calm presence to me and my husband, reminding me of comfort measures that we could still use and massaging my back. When I was able to get up, she helped me labor however felt the most comfortable and productive, even when the nurses were skeptical. When it was time to push, Amy was unfazed by my position—on my knees, facing away, and leaning over the top of the tilted-up head of the bed—or by my loud swearing. When my daughter arrived, Amy delivered the joyful news that she was a girl.
Amy’s preparatory meetings and follow-up were wonderful. We met a few times before the birth to talk about hopes and concerns, and she also called me regularly to see how we were doing. After the birth, she visited our house and we talked through everything that happened at the birth, which was a very sweet way to help me remember that sacred event and fill in the parts I couldn’t recall.
Amy is confident, caring, sweet, and funny. Beside my husband and my midwife, I can’t imagine having wanted anyone else at my daughter’s birth.

Amy was an absolutely wonderful part of my daughter's birth. She was great at assessing what was going on and responding, whether that meant helping me relax in the tub or chatting with my husband while I just wanted to be left alone. She was honest, loving, compassionate, and encouraging for the craziest 9 hours of my life, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

Amy handled my birth very calmly and effectively. I strongly recommend her services. My birth did not go as planned, yet Amy was very helpful and instrumental in making sure things went as smoothly as possible. She is a great communicator, highly reliable and an overall calming presence.
