I gave birth on April 17 2010 to a 10lb 6oz boy. I have always hated hospitals and had planned to never give birth in one if I could help it. Unfortunately Regina had still not hired a midwife by the time my son was born. Instead I planned to do the next best thing. I hired Sonya to be my Doula and planned to labor mostly at home. Sonya was very supportive of my discomfort with the hospital and told me we could stay at home for as long as I wanted while in labor. The day my water broke my husband had been up all night unable to sleep so Sonya accompanied me to the hospital to get checked. She stayed with me until I felt comfortable going home to rest and wait for labor to start. I was very happy to have someone with me when my husband could not be. As for my husband, he was very happy we hired Sonya. During labor he had no idea what to do and felt completely lost but Sonya guided him through it with suggestions to help me cope. After my son was born I hemorrhaged so was a little out of it. Sonya and my husband both made sure our wishes where followed for the care of our new son. When I got home from the hospital we had a few questions about the care of our new baby and Sonya got us the answers and gave us great resources. I would strongly recommend Sonya to anyone having a baby! I plan on having her again for my next one.
