Marilyn Pocha Doula Profile

I cannot say enough kind words about Marilyn Pocha and the doula services she performed. Marilyn is a kind and loving person who was a great support for me and my husband Rob before, throughout, and after the birth of our son. Prior to me going in labour Marilyn made sure that any outstanding questions or concerns were answered and she helped me with my birth plan. She is a wealth of information. She was calm, comforting and very supportive throughout our labour, offered lots of ideas for different positions, and offered lots of encouraging words to get me through some tough labour pains. After our son was born she made sure I was comfortable with breast feeding and checked in with me a few days after getting home from the hospital. I felt that she went above and beyond her paid duties. Marilyn went above and beyond what I would have ever expected. My husband and I are so glad we hired a doula and we are so thankful for Marilyn's services and support. I don't think our experience with birth would have been as successful as it was without her. I felt more like I had a family member by my side, not just someone we hired for support. I hope Marilyn can be by our sides for future pregnancies.

My husband and I decided to hire a doula because my physiotherapist recommended it since I suffer from back pain. I searched for several doulas in the area and narrowed it down to three based on credentials and testimonials. We decided to meet with Marilyn because she was so prompt in replying to my email (she was actually the only one that replied!). As soon as we met her, my husband and I knew that she would be the one that we wanted. She was so kind and sweet and she made us feel very comfortable. She came over to our place for birth classes and she helped us learn and understand everything we needed to prepare for the birth. I had quite a difficult labor and things did not go according to our plan but Marilyn helped every step of the way. She comforted me when I needed it, and she encouraged me throughout. She helped my husband to get involved and gave him advice on how to comfort me. She is a genuinely nice person and we wouldn't have been able to have such a wonderful birth experience without her. One thing that I really appreciated about Marilyn was her quickness to reply to any email, phone call or text that we would send her way. We would definitely recommend Marilyn to anyone who is wanting a wonderful doula.

My husband and I decided to hire a doula after our prenatal instructor recommended it. Our midwives suggested it too. I was planning to have my husband and mother in the delivery room and so I wondered if a doula would be necessary or not. We decided to have Marilyn as our doula and boy are we glad we did!! She was WONDERFUL! She helped me relax. She traded off with my mom who was having trouble watching me in pain. She helped my husband help me, and she even took some awesome pictures during birth and right after! Marilyn is so calming and positive. She also came to visit once before the birth and then a few days after too! I can’t say enough good things about her. If we become blessed with a second, we’ll be calling her right away to reserve her. She is worth every penny. We highly recommend Marilyn Pocha!

We were extremely pleased with Marilyn. We had a midwife but I was really glad that we also had Marilyn as our Doula. She supplied us with a wealth of knowledge in our home visits prior to the labour and was available to ask questions when ever we had them or supply us with additional info if needed. The information she provided us with helped both my husband and I feel confident and well educated prior to labour as this was our first pregnancy which I strongly feel helped us have a very positive and successful birthing experience. Marilyn offered a
tremendous amount of support to both my husband and I during the labour. For me she provided massage during early labour, ran the shower wand on my back and abdomen during and after each contraction, made sure I was comfortable during contractions after helping me to the hospital bed and helped me lean forward during pushing, all the while giving caring and supportive motivation. For my husband she provided instruction as to how and when he should help me during labour which overall gave him confidence. Having Marilyn available for assisting my husband also allowed me to focus on my contractions and pushing without having to worry about instructing him how to help me. It gave me peace of mind knowing she was there for both of us. My husband and I hope to have another baby in the near future and I hope that Marilyn will be available to assist us again.

I am expecting my first baby and we were very close to not having a doula at all but we had made an appointment with her prior to deciding this and so we kept the meeting. Well, we met her and she changed our minds. We had four prenatal visits with her and I am always astounded by her professionalism. She is always so full of knowledge and so organized. I feel so prepared for the birth of our baby. I'm not at all nervous and actually excited for the "big day". She is so sweet too and you can just tell that it's not about the money for her, she just honestly loves her work and takes it so seriously. She was the most reasonably priced but gives you so much for your dollar too. Goes above and beyond for sure and she never forgets anything. If she says she will do something, she does it. Having a doula was the best decision we made for sure. You will not regret hiring her. She's great! Having Marilyn attend my birth was a necessity. I am glad I had her there for support during what was a very difficult experience. I labored for many hours and she was there very step of the way. Whatever I needed, water, food, a back massage, hot shower or just words of encouragement, she knew exactly what I needed to get through it. When it got too difficult for me to continue without pain medication, she supported me in my decisions and made me not feel disappointed with myself and for that, I thank her a million times over. Words can't even describe how thankful I was to have Marilyn.
