Client Testimonials for Bethan Stewart

Heading into my seventh month of pregnancy, I was still very focused on the state of being pregnant rather than focusing on what it would be like to actually give birth! My husband and I turned to Bethan to help us transition from “expectant parents” to “imminent parents”, and to get emotionally prepared for the experience we were about to have. She visited us prior to our daughter’s birth for three three-hour sessions, coaching us to communicate our hopes and anxieties about birth, practicing pain control techniques, and reviewing different events and responses that can occur during the labour process. Bethan’s reassuring approach, which included conversation, demonstrations and homework, helped the two of us be a strong team for our daughter’s birth, and the themes and strategies we covered were helpful in the endurance test of our first weeks at home with a new baby. We also received a post-partum visit from Bethan, for some assistance with breastfeeding and to talk about the birth experience. Bethan did an excellent job of engaging and teaching both of us, and we would recommend her course to other imminent parents.

Bethan is a first-class doula. She has the compassion, warmth and dependability of the very special kind of care provider that my partner and I have needed during our journey through pregnancy to childbirth. We are so lucky to have her time and energy! Bethan listens and communicates from a place of knowledge, resourcefulness and confidence. She is present with us each time we meet and I know that her steady, calm and loving character helped us during the delivery of our child as well as through the transition into parenthood.

Bethan, our doula, was WONDERFUL! I would highly recommend her. She used both massage and acupressure with me, as well as aromatherapy. She was able to create a soothing, comforting space wherever we were, even in the downstairs birthing rooms at Women's, which are pretty clinical spaces by themselves.
She was amazing for a hospital birth, especially because we were planning on a homebirth and hadn't done much thinking about how to labour in the hospital. She was a soothing, encouraging presence, and I wouldn't have had the fabulous birth experience I did without her.
We had a wonderful, relaxing, powerful birth, thanks to the experience and gentle advice from Bethan. She made each room I was in calm and inviting, she has magical massaging hands, and so much knowledge, which is offered at just the right time. I will be sure to have a doula at every birth, and I dearly hope we can have tea and cake with Bethan for the rest of my babies.
