Lynn Cummings Doula Profile

 Lynn was perfectly matched for us as our doula. From the very beginning, both my partner and I had an instant connection with Lynn and found her to be both knowledgeable and easy to talk to.  During the birth (which was a hospital birth), Lynn was nothing short of exceptional. She knew when to make a suggestion which could make the experience easier, and at the same time fully supported  me in my needs and requests. She was always very respectful of the birth experience and respectful of the role my partner was to play in the birth. He was so happy to have Lynn with us, as it took the stress off of my partner, and he was able to just be there as I needed him. The three of us made a wonderful team and Lynn's experience and suggestions to us made all the difference. The postpartum care that Lynn provided was nothing short of exceptional. I did not really expect all the emotions and mayhem that accompanied returning home with a newborn, and I was so grateful to have Lynn's support. She provided more care than what was in her contract, and the phone calls she made to me during those first few days were lifelines. It made all the difference to have Lynn giving me support and advice when I needed it the most, and just to let me know what was normal. I am so grateful that I found Lynn and grateful for the kind of person she is. Even my husband commented that "Lynn has the most soothing voice", and it's true and that's just a key element of who Lynn is--she is someone who really cares about mothers and fathers, about babies, and about her role as a doula. She is excellent at what she does. The next time we go through childbirth, there is not a doubt who we will ask to accompany us during that experience. Thanks for everything Lynn! 

I am so grateful for the work that Lynn did as my doula.  For me, hiring Lynn was step 1 in a wonderful journey towards having a beautiful birth experience.  Having had terribly painful back-labour with my first daughter (despite the use of drugs and without the help of a doula) I was really nervous about having to go through it again.  Within minutes of having met Lynn for the first time I knew I wanted her as my doula; she has a very soothing, calming, nurturing quality about her and she was so easy to talk to.  The resources that she pointed me to during our meetings leading up to the birth were incredibly helpful and she instilled a confidence in me that made me actually look forward to giving birth!   The result was a quick, drug-free delivery in which Lynn knew intuitively how to help me and when.  I didn't have to think, I just had to birth, and Lynn pulled everything else together for me - the heat packs that magically appeared, the massages that hit the right spot, the encouragement and unsolicited reassurance when I wasn't so sure, the list goes on.  I had a pretty amazing birth experience that I'm not sure would have happened without Lynn on my team.

We had interviewed 3 different Doulas for our birthing process, and even though Lynn didn't have the same experience as the others (they had more births attended), we found her to be the most personable. That is why we chose Lynn. Her demeanor made us feel at ease the whole time. She was very caring and attentive through a rather difficult birth. We found that she was also very knowledgeable. There were no questions she couldn't answer nor any situation which she couldn't handle. We felt very comfortable with her the whole time. What really sets her apart is her warm and caring personality. She truly cared about our situation and loves what she does, and it shows!

Lynn was our doula for the birth of our third child.  The circumstances of the birth were less than ideal, and a disappointment for us.  Despite this, Lynnn and our midwife helped us be at peace with the process.  Lynn was incredibly intuitive, seeming to know what to do (and not do) wtihout being told.  We would absolutely choose her as our doula again, and refer her to you wtihout any reservation.
