For my third birth I decided to give birth at a hospital mainly due to my issues of being so scared of having terrible back labor again, she understood and offered her doula services to us, which I gladly accepted in a heart beat! I was way overdue, finally going into labor at 42 weeks and 2 days. Finally he decided it was time and I called Cynthia at 1 am in the morning and she came immediately and quickly considering I live and hour away. She got to my house and I was handling everything great, so much so, I didn't even know if I was in labor. We went for a few walks, the contractions started getting stronger, my water broke, she checked me and I was at a 7!! Time to go to the hospital. After two hours or so the labor starting going into my back, which really unnerved me. I was at a 9 at this point and decided very sternly that I wanted an epidural, mainly due to fear or letting go and letting the baby come down and out. Though she told me I could do it and helped me with different postions to get into to make things more comfortable, I still yelled for my epidural! :) She supported me and my husband in that decision. She stayed with me though my boy being delieved and afterward. This time around I did not suffer from post partum depression, for I made the decision to have my placenta encapsulated and it worked wonders! Cynthia was so involved in this process that she took my placenta to her house and had the "placenta lady" come and encapuslate it at her house and Cynthia drove it back to me at the hospital so I could start taking the pills. She went above and beyond helping us. I couldn't have asked for a better, more knowledgable, midwife and doula. God has blessed her with so much, to help so many women. So no matter what you are deciding for your birth, be it home, center or hospital, she will be there helping you every step of the way!
Cynthia was my midwife for my second son, and my doula for my third, and all I can say is WOW, what a blessing. My second son was actually born at her house and it was a very long hard labor with lots of back labor, she helped me every bit of the way. We walked ALOT, used water therapy, prayed, and everything else we could think of! She was very supportive toward my husband who is very much involved in my births. So after 12 hours, my son was born, I had light meconium in my water which we knew ahead of time and she handled everything calmly and smoothly. She granted us everything we requested, like not cutting the cord and not pulling placenta out, etc. She even handled the post partum bleeding (which was a lot) with herbal tinctures, etc. She visited me several times after my brith to check on me, she knew my history with post partum depression. Unfortunately, I did get PPD again, but she was very helpful in giving suggestions to me to help me get through this period of time. I couldn't have asked for a more supportive and knowledgable midwife. Thanks always Cynthia!
Cynthia was a wonderful blessing to have with me during the birth of my son. I had planned on having an epidural during birth, but that is not how things worked out. My labor was 3 ½ hours and there was not enough time for medicine. Cynthia arrived at the hospital and immediately helped me to calm down, get over the shock and panic of not being able to receive and epidural, and focus on the birth. She helped me breath correctly, recommended the use of a birthing bar, which was wonderful, and guided me through the birth. I am not sure how I would have survived without Cynthia.
Thank you Cynthia for you care and support.
After taking a childbirth class and deciding to possibly deliver my first child without intervention, we decided to find a doula. Unfortunately, the process of finding a doula was later in my pregnancy, and we only had about 5 weeks till my due date. Thank goodness we found Cynthia (through my childbirth class instructor's contacts). After a preliminary phone call, Cynthia came to our home. She was very organized, and was able to answer all our questions about interventions, relaxation techniques, etc. She took the time to also review the materials we learned at our childbirth class, so that she could incorporate them with her techniques. It was very important that we felt comfortable with our doula, and we did with Cynthia. It turns out that I had to be induced three weeks early, and even though we only had one face-to-face meeting with Cynthia, she drove the one hour to the hospital, and stayed with me and my husband through the 24+ hours of labor! Cynthia also came postpartum to make sure everything was okay. She was supportive and encouraging during the whole process. We don't know what we would've done if Cynthia wasn't there. Thank-you, Cynthia!!!
