Client Testimonials for Stephanie Brown
Ashley Borders
Stephanie Brown in an amazing doula! After the birth of my second child, I found myself in a place emotionally where I really needed some help adjusting to life with two kids, learning how to still be present with my toddler, and also trying to heal from a postpartum hemorrhage. Stephanie was referred to me by a friend, and from the moment she walked into our home a sense of relief came over me. She has a wonderful, calming demeanor and is a great listener, offering just the right peice of advice when you most need it. She's also tremendous with kids, both toddlers and babies. When she would leave I would always feel better, not to mention that I'd notice a million things she'd taken it upon herself to do while she was there (cleaning up toys, laundry, dishes, etc.). My husband and I both feel like Stephanie became part of our family while she was with us.
Our experience with her was as a postpartum doula, but I can only imagine that she'd be remarkable as a brith doula as well. Any one who is able to work with Stephanie is a lucky person.

Stephanie was a backup of a backup doula, the third one I ended up working with, but the one who was there when I went through hard labor, transition, and delivery. She was amazing! It was so kind of her to come and care for me even though she wasn't my "official" doula. She worked with my husband and midwife to make sure I was as comfortable as possible, even though my situation wasn't ideal. I was induced with pitocin, and she helped me work through the pit contractions. She massaged my lower back, gave hip presses, brought cold compresses laced with peppermint, and even held the basin as I threw up during transition. She always had peppermints for me to suck on to calm my stomach, and cheered me on every step of the way. Instead of taking the place of my husband, she helped guide him and encouraged him to do things that would help make me more comfortable. When I chose to labor in the dark in the bathroom, she helped convince the nurses to give me "just 5 more minutes." When the hospital staff insisted on getting me still long enough to use the fetal monitors, she helped me find a rhythm to get through the contractions. As I labored on the bed during bedrest for high blood pressure, she showed me how to use my body to make it through, and encouraged me to do what felt right. When I decided I couldn't take it any more, she reminded me that I COULD do it, that I WAS doing it. Once it was time to start pushing, she cheered me on while the midwife did her job. As I pushed my son into the world, Stephanie quietly took up my camera and snapped pictures that I didn't know I would want to have. Thanks to her, I managed to have an unmedicated pitocin birth, and pictures of that birth that I never knew I'd be so happy to have. I am so grateful to have had Stephanie at my birth, and I can honestly say that my birth wouldn't have been as successful without her.

AMAZING.....I would recommend her to new & expereince mothers alike. Her knowledge combined with her tender nature was an unbeatable combination that made our birth experience that much more enjoyable. Stephanie was proffesional, friendly and respectful towards me, my husband, our children, the doctors, the nurses, etc.... She helped execute our birth plan to a tee, even when met with the skepticism and nay saying that sometimes accompany a natural birth in a hospital setting. Since then, i have reffered Stephanie to several moms and will continue to do so and I will continue to sing her praises to anyone who will listen. She was born to do this work.
