Camilla Yrure Doula Profile

Camilla was a wonderful fit for our birth and I highly recommend her.  She was always available and extremely helpful before, during, and after my labor and delivery.  She was responsive and knowledgeable and a very calming influence throughout those few months.  She put me and my husband at ease.  It was nice to meet with Camilla several times before the birth to really get to know her and for her to know us.  She was very helpful during the several hours I labored at home and then she blended right into the hospital environment once we transitioned there.  Camilla was extremely supportive of our natural childbirth and didn't leave our side.  She knew when to offer more direct support to me and when to let my husband perform the role of primary support, and therefore was a great asset to both of us.  Camilla was definitely one of the main reasons we had the birth we wanted and an experience I will always treasure!  

 Camilla truly completed our team.  She is friendly, kind, gentle and really knows how to talk to you and explain how "things" work.  I say things are there are a variety of them that we discussed. :)  I felt so well taken care of.  Before I gave birth she spent good quality time with me.  While I was in labor she meshed perfectly with my husband and friend who were also here.  We were cracking jokes and I laughed during contractions.  It was a good time.  I am proud to call her my friend now and I love to hear stories of how she has helped many other mothers the way she helped me.

 Camilla was our birth and postpartum doula for our November VBAC. She also gave us quite an awesome (and much needed) childbirth refresher for our second time around. She was flexible with meeting, and came to our house numerous times when we were in an anxious panic. I had a lot of worry about this birth, and my partner and I both were carrying a lot of weight from the birth of my son two years prior. Camilla's empathy, understanding, and warm wisdom and encouragement aided us through a very difficult time. She helped turn what would have otherwise been a repeat-trauma in to a very powerful achievement by reminding me of what I've always known I'm capable of doing! She softened my partner, and helped us to stay present and comfortable. She made the team at the hospital very amicable with her calm demeanor and her polite assertiveness - that was an overall pleasant experience as we compromised through some of my headstrong attributes..Breastfeeding was a success this time around too, and is still going strong! She still follows up often, always encouraging, always easily relating. We covered a lot of my previous breastfeeding mishaps and she never left my side when we struggled through a latch, needing to borrow her abundance of patience.Camilla juggled my toddler as we transitioned baby girl P. in to our home. She also makes a superb lentil soup and chickpea curry!

We worked with Camilla for our recent birth. It was very useful to talk with her during the pregnancy as she is very knowledgeable and helped us think through decisions that we had to make. I never felt like she was annoyed by my questions about everything from induction methods to breastpumps, and she was available and responsive via phone, email, and text. She also reviewed and helped edit our birth plan.

One of the main reasons we hired a doula was to help us labor at home as long as possible, and she really helped us achieve that goal. She came in the middle of the night and made helpful suggestions and provided some pain relief techniques. With her help, we labored at home for a long time and only spent about two hours in the hospital before our baby arrived.

Camilla has a very calming, kind presence that is a great counterbalance to a time that can be anxious and intense. I highly recommend Camilla as a birth doula.
