Dianna saved my life. This may sound extreme and like an exaggeration, but it really is true. After two weeks alone with my newborn colicky baby I felt like a complete and utter failure. In my non-medical opinion I was one sleepless night away from a complete meltdown and precariously balanced on the edge of extreme post pardum depression. As an "older" mom who thought that her life was "together" the unpredictableness and unknown of a newborn was literally too much for me to handle. I questioned every move I made and felt utterly helpless. Dianna came to my house and made me feel better, about everything. She took care of me so I could take care of my baby and then she took care of my baby so I could start to take care of my house. She taught me how to give my baby bath, sooth her crying and start to actually enjoy her. She helped me bond in a way that I was just not able to do in the two weeks since Zoe came home from the hospital. More important then anything, Dianna gave me confidence. She gave me the confidence to trust my instincts and to learn by watching Zoe. I credit Dianna with my ability to return to a functioning human being, to avoid post pardum depression and to be a good mom. It has been 3 1/2 years since Dianna came into my life and I am still practicing the lessons she taught me. So many new moms are scared to admit that having a baby is really hard and that it is nothing like what you see in the movies or on TV, I am not one of them! Dianna was there not just for Zoe, but for me too, to help me transition out of what I thought was the fairytale I was supposed to be living and into reality. I can honestly say that I LOVE being a mom now and that love affair with motherhood was started by Dianna.
