Heidi Faith (KC Christian Doula) Doula Profile

I am a guy, and so when my wife tried talking to me about a "doula," I had no idea what she was talking about.  After inviting Heidi into our home for an interview and hearing what she had to say about my role and how she ensures that both the husband and wife experience the birth together as an intimate, family event, I was intrigued.  My wife liked everything she heard, especially about the network, the devotionals, and the TENS unit.  I was surprised that her support for my wife would begin long before labor even started, and I was satisfied with the cost, especially when I learned everything my wife would be getting.  Once we signed the contract, the excitement grew about our options and the things we could have for this birth.  Even I was really excited.

In the hospital, Heidi directed me and led my wife.  She was serious, intuitive, a step ahead, creative, receptive, and kind.  She was absolutely imperative to my wife having a natural birth and to me staying calm--and actually helping!  I felt overall that she respected my role as the husband and was willing to work with whatever amount of help I was willing to give.  

If you are even considering having a doula, you really must get to know Heidi.  She is a support from the very beginning, and my wife still calls her with updates and questions, and our little guy is already walking.  She's become sort of an extension of our family and we love our memories of childbirth that she helped us create. 

The best things about Heidi are: she didn't pressure me into a "type" of birth; she gave me a thorough understanding of interventions so that, not only could I choose what I felt was best, but so that I could be prepared in case things didn't go according to my "plan."  She was behind the scenes throughout my pregnancy, with her resourceful network available and her always at hand to answer questions.  Her equipment for labor support was extensive--I think she has things other doulas never thought of.  I love that for her, her own family comes first in her life and she is open to share about that.  Doula work is only a part of her life.  I think that makes her more committed to you and your own family, as she doesn't have her own agenda but is wise to lead you to God and to proven science when you are doubtful or anxious about anticipating and experiencing birth.  Her doula work is an extension of her love for her family.  She gives you everything she has and it is so evident that she just loves what she does.  Her fee is reasonable and any client of hers would tell you they'd be glad to pay it again.  My birth experience was so enriching and blessed because I got to share it with her...while she was pregnant, too!  It was as though we were going through it together!

I was going to have an abortion.  I was scared and angry and all by myself.  I knew about adoption but I thought it was too complicated and strange.  I thought people would use me for my baby and ignore me. 

Heidi helped me to make better choices.  I gave my baby away and it still hurts.  But I go to church now, and there are people there that support me.  Heidi is still my friend, too.  I am not alone anymore, and my baby boy is safe, loved, and happy, too.

I read about Heidi on her website, and she did everything for me that she says she'll do for you.  And she did it for free, because God told her to.

You should hire Heidi.

• UNLIKE OTHER DOULAS, she encouraged me to see my birth experience in a way that I can equip myself for through education, preparation and realistic goal setting, BUT that there is NO FAILED OUTCOME.  There is MORE involved in my birth than my wishful thinking.  Still, I had a birth experience that was remarkable, blessed, wonderful, and deely satisfying.  Her approach made this possible, I'd believe, regardless of outcome.  It's just the way she prepares you for it!  :)

• Extras--she has a retreat you can attend for a full 24 hours of open-ended birth prep, professional massage, and relaxation.  She also has a Christian baby shower alternative (Blessing Shower) she can help arrange with your friends and family.  Exciting!!
• The network she has is AWESOME!!  We didn't have to squeeze all of our questions and concerns into the two visits doulas traditionally offer.  We had unlimited access to answers and resources, from the very beginning.  She even called and emailed to check in with us to make sure we were getting the information we needed.  Loved it!

Heidi is a Christian doula committed to glorifying the Lord through the birth experience.  She offers a private network where clients past and present can comment, learn about pregnancy and birth, and enjoy fellowship.  She is on call as soon as you hire her.  She helped my husband and made him feel as though this was OUR event, and that she was just a PART of it.  We would hire her again anytime and strongly recommend you interview her and experience her professionalism and love for such a sacred event in family life.
