I had a great experience with Kimanthi. She listened to my concerns and reassured my fears as a first time mom. I love that she helped my husband with techniques for making me more comfortable during the last months of my pregnancy. She was patient and informative during my breastfeeding journey. I could always call her if I had questions between visits. She truly goes above and beyond for your care and comfort. I hope she can be part of all my future pregnancy journeys.

Kimathi was a complete pleasant to have as my doula. Hiring a doula this time around was a vital part of my desired experience. Kimathi held my hand through this process from giving me outside resources, books, classes and never settled until she knew I was confident. She was a total warrior for me and left me feeling encouraged and powerful! Her care postpartum was the most impactful for me. The check-ins on my physical and mental health kept me afloat and encouraged. If you are looking for a doula, I'd recommend Kimathi 1000 times over for her professionalism, honesty, kindness, expertise, and caring nature. I loved my experience with her!!!

From the very first moment I was introduced to Kimathi, she instantly warmed my heart and calmed my nerves. She was very active and encouraging from the start. Even now, she still reaches out to check on me. We became family instantly. At the time of my pregnancy, she was pregnant as well and didn't feel good herself! BUT she pushed through and managed to encourage me through my fears and doubts. Kimathi was awesome during my labor and was there every step of the way! I couldn't have asked for a better doula than her!

In looking for a doula, I was hoping to find someone who could help me advocate for myself with hospital staff for a limited intervention birth because I was a first time mom and was unsure what to expect. Kimithi was that and so much more! Before and after the birth she was super helpful rounding out my knowledge, answering real-time questions about pre-labor and a newborn baby. During my L&D she came prepared to assist me in which ever way she could but even though she needed to step away for to handle something personal with the knowledge she poured into me during our prenatal visits I was confident enough to deliver my baby along with other family support and I was confident enough to say what I needed and didn't need in those moments. Postpartum was real for me ! I will say she was available when i needed to reach out for help. Kimithi walked me through everything from the birth plan to postpartum recovery, breastfeeding basics, etc. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for her support during those first days. She was incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, caring, and kind. She helped me with breastfeeding, was there to walk me through how to store breast milk and pumping, taught me how to use the baby sling, and more. I enjoyed her company very much and felt much more confident and secure because she was around. I would definitely use her services again.

Kimathi has been a blessing of knowledge and genuine care to my babies and me! She has the ability to empower you with the confidence to face  and conquer everyday child birthing challenges. With my 2nd son, my husband was out of town for work and my water broke at 3am and I had to wait for him to drive back home before heading to the hospital due to the hospital's visitor guidelines. I didn't know what to do and was already panicking. Kimathi calmed me down and gave instructions to get on my birthing ball until he arrived. She also checked on me throughout my labor and I had to have an emergency c-section due to my son's heart rate dropping. My heart was broken because wanted a vaginally birth and she felt my disappointment and gave me support throughout my recovery. The hospital staff come and go but your doula never leaves your side. Therefore, Kimathi is not just a doula: she's a great friend and super advocate for what's best for mothers and babies ?

I reached out to Kimathi at a very low point in my post partum journey. I was overwhelmed with breastfeeding (poor latch), colic, pumping schedule, and normal hormonal changes. After reaching out, she was very quick to respond! This is very important, especially when dealing with new moms. We need answers and we need them ASAP! We scheduled a virtual meeting. I was extremely late to the call and would've completely understood if she would've canceled. She didn't. She honored the appointment and took her time with me. I learned a lot in my time with her & more importantly felt heard and understood. She has a vast amount of knowledge AND personal experience. It's one thing to tell someone what a book says, it's another thing to say "I've been there and I understand ." she was able to give great suggestions and I still hear from her. If you are looking for assistance during your breastfeeding journey, she is 100% the way to go.

Wow where can I start?! The amount of knowledge that exudes from Kimathi is amazing! She has helped me understand and get through my breastfeeding journey! We found things in common with our Journies and it made me feel more at ease! She was always available for a call or text! Never was I ghosted! I recommend to have a post-part I'm doula and she is the best for the job in the Memphis area!! You will NOT be disappointed with her services!

Kimathi is my sister in law and was my doula in 2019. I always looked forward to our appointments and enjoyed catching up. She was always pleasant to be around and made sure that she thoroughly explained anything I wasn't aware of or didn't consider. Leading up to the birth Kimathi walked around the hospital with me and shared different things I could do to help my body progress for labor and also relieve pain when it came. After delivery Kimathi provided different things I needed for both me and the baby and regularly checked in us.

My Experience with Kimathi Coleman was Amazing!. She was and is there for me to answer any questions and concerns I may have. She helped me to have comfort in having a baby at 40 years old while the world was going through so many changes. I was so relieved to have her support and wisdom. She provided much needed resources that have helped my family, I thank God for her tips on breastfeeding and thrush. Having the experience of doulas has truly made a difference in my life and I would recommend her to other moms.

I am a 40 year old woman in the South. At the time of my pregnancy I was 38 years old, had just moved from Arizona to Memphis, TN by way of driving myself across country, and I was absolutely terrified to have a child alone at my age. I got in touch with Kimathi when I was entering my 3 month of pregancy after thinking that my lack of a cycle was due to menopause and not growing a tiny human.

She was an absolute gem the whole way. She made me feel but comfortable and supported. I was so comfortable that I could have had him on the living room floor, a car, an elevator or a hospital room. She is knowlegable, compassionate, and kind. Kimathi carries all of her great attributes with a quite strength that made my pregnancy and birthing process bearable. To this day she is still one of my favorite people and my son, August, and I are truly grateful to have had her along for the journey.

Any one would be lucky to have such a super woman in their corner.

After having my 4th C-section I decided to try breastfeeding on demand. A lot of challenges occured within those 9 months that triggered many emotions. I lost my mother and I moved within that time. Breastfeeding my baby was to create a special bond between us, but many times I got frustrated and overwhelmed. Kimathi Coleman was so helpful to me during this new phase of my life. She helped with latching my new born as well as supported me through my emotional struggles. I'm very appreciative of not only her professionalism, but for her friendship as well. She not only understand the needs of my baby but mostly the needs for me so that I can be emotionally and physically healthy  to nurture my little one.

Having a doula makes me feel special and cared for at one of the most important times in my life. Kimathi always goes above and beyond to make sure I have information or anything else I need. Social distancing has put a pause on home visits which was sad but she never fails to check on me and keep our appointments. Because of my doula I can feel at ease ready to complete this birth journey.

Having Kimathi as a Doula was one of the best decisions I had ever chose. She was highly supportive from the moment we first spoke. She became a big sister to me. When I went into labor, she stayed with me from the moment I got to the hospital until the following day making sure that I had a comfortable and healthy baby and delivery! Even after my delivery, she came by and always checked/checks up on me to make sure me and baby are good and have everything we need. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVEEEED the birth strides program and having Kimathi as my Doula! You ROCK Mathi!

Kimathi was very genuine and knowledgeable about all things dealing with prenatal and post natal care. She was a great listener and let me know all my options. I appreciate her helping me get my birth plan into place. Kimathi was definitely an emotional and mental support for me as well. She will definitely show you healthier ways to eat and exercises to do to alleviate pain. Having a Doula was a new, but much needed experience for me. I am so glad I chose Birth Strides.

Strangers to Sisters:

My time with Kimathi is nothing short of Amazing! I was egar and excited about the new adventure I was to embark upon and happy that I had sombody there with me through it all. I was an emotional rolo coster due to my situation. I was 25 at the time of my pregnancy. This was my 1st child and my home life wasnt so hot. It was hard to keep a steady income, my childs father was giving me the blues and the only joy I found was in my in-home meetings with her. She is so personable and it helped that we liked the same things. She was genuinely there for me as a person, as a new mommy and equally important as a black woman in the midsouth! She is very knowledgeable and kind. She and I bonded over my learning experience. She explain everything about my pregnant body thoroughly. She shows me real love and I am forever greatful for her. She helped through my darkest days while pregnant, and help me keep a clear head. She is now a person I hold near to my heart because of her me and my child are here she may not know it but I am so GREATFUL she was there for me then and we've developed such a relationship she's here for me now!!

I love her and all the work she does !

Kimanthi has been such a gift to our family! She came into our lives after my daughter was born. My two older boys still talk about how much fun she is. She came into our house full of positive energy and ready to work. She did everything for us- from meal prepping to screening me for post partum mood disorder to taking my boys outside then giving them lunch to giving me counsel on navigating family issues. Kimanthi is a birth activist who is dedicated to helping mothers everywhere. Her connections within the birth doula community and breastfeeding groups helped connect me with needed resources. Her kindness and friendship mean the world to me!

Kimathi has been amazing since the day we met! From the very beginning, she has made me feel confident in my decisions and she's been very supportive! She is always available to  help me with any concerns or questions.  Not only is she a great doula, but she is very informative and educated on what goes on in the community with prenatal and postnatal events and classes. She is very intentional about building a personal relationship and though I haven't known her very long, I feel that we have built a bond in such little time. To be honest, it will be hard for me not connect with her once my baby is born. She is honestly everything I prayed for in a doula and I would recommend her to anybody!

I selected Kimathi as my doula because she truly has a gentle and caring spirit; Definitely one of a kind. Throughout my prenatal journey Kimathi regularly checked in to see how I was feeling, to offer suggestions, provide tips, or even to make sure that I was drinking enough water. Kimathi is very respectful of an individual's space and energy, and inclusive to all involved.

My experience with Kimathi was so good that she is my doula again as I prepare to bring another life from the spiritual realm to the earthly realm.
