Rebecca Pencak CD(DONA) Doula Profile

Becca was a joy to work with. She has the perfect combination of confidence and compassion. She knows what she is doing, and she is extremely perceptive on when to do it. This was my second birth, but first time working with Becca. My husband plays a very active role in my births, and Becca was the perfect support for him. There were several times when my husband just needed a bit of encouragment or a reminder, and she was right there to offer that. When I was extremely discouraged about the slow progress I was making, she was the rock that got me through. I was able to have the birth experience I wanted and I know that Becca was a huge part of making that happen. She was available via text or e-mail the weeks leading up to labor, and was there as soon as we needed her on the big day. We are so thankful that she was a part of the birth of our son!

Our first child was born on April 4, 2011.  We hired Becca because I wanted a natural childbirth and was really looking for extra support for both myself and my husband.  Given this was our first child, neither of us knew what to expect and having Becca there felt right to me.  I was on Pitocin for ten hours, amid strong back labor, and Becca got me through.  She was amazing because she gave me both the emotional and physical support that I needed.  She worked with my husband and my nurse and the three of them became a great team.  I don't think I would have been able to get through all of those contractions without her!  One of the first things my husband said after our son was born was, "Thank God for Becca - I wouldn't have known what to do!  She will definitely be with us for the next baby!"  And I agree!  Becca was more than just our Doula.  She became a friend who shared a very intimate part of our lives and we will always have a special place for her in our hearts.

There are not enough kind words to say about Rebecca (Becca). She came to us late in our pregnancy and was a great help. She worked with us in every way and was there when we needed her. She gave us information that we did not know about, since it was our first baby, and prepared us for the delivery day. Once we were at the hospital we had difficulty delivering naturally and she stayed with us for the whole time until the baby was born. It was many hours but she was there until the end.With her help, her knowledge and love we had a great delivery and many strong memories for the rest of our lifes.

My husband and I wanted another person in the hospital to help advocate for us as we hoped for a natural, vaginal delivery.  When things started getting complicated, Becca was a wonderful support and helped me especially prepare for what an induction would mean.  Although our birth experience didn't go how we planned (our son was born via emergency c-section after 8 hours of laboring because of a knot in his cord), Becca was so encouraging through the entire process.  She was a calming presence, and helped us think through the information that was constantly coming at us.  She was flexible with us, and gave my husband the confidence he needed to support me throughout the labor and delivery.  I especially appreciated that before and after the birth, I could call her with any question I had.  Becca is a wonderful woman who is senstive to the needs of a laboring mother AND the husband; she exceeded our expectations and was a true blessing  to us!

My husband and I were very eager to have a natural childbirth but were nervous about handling everything ourselves since this was our first child and we had chosen to have the baby at the hospital. What a blessing it was to have Becca as our doula! Our labor was long and difficult, but Becca was a great support. Her calming and encouraging words were such a help to me as I struggled through each contraction--I will never forget breathing through the pain, wanting to give up, with eyes fixed on Becca who was coaching me through. My husband and I are so grateful for our little son, Samuel, and owe much of our gratitude to Becca for her support. Some words I would use to describe her are kind, consistent, dedicated, gentle, and encouraging. Thank you, Becca!
