Client Testimonials for Sarah McKay

Sarah was great. From the beginning I wanted as natural a birth as I could have. My husband (bless him) is not very good at being calm in situations like birthing. He is a pacer and needs to be moving. I knew that I would need someone to be the support I needed and Sarah was it. She sat with us almost all day on Wednesday when we thought we were having the baby only to have my contractions stop in the late afternoon. She contacted me all through the next day to be sure I was staying hydrated and that my contractions had not restarted. On Friday it was time. She met us at the hospital. By then I decided on the epidural. Sarah easily changed courses with me, reminded me how pushing was going to be different and stood strong as the support person I needed. I ended up having to have a c-section and she was right there for that. Both my husband and I were adamant that she be able to accompany us into the OR. Besides the doctors and nurses, she was the first person to see my son. My son had to be taken to the NICU and my husband was able to go with him and Sarah was able to be with me so that I was not alone while I was stitched up. That mattered so much!
Sarah has a warm and fun personality. As a doula she will fully support you in all the ways you need, even if the plans go awry. If I have another child, I can guarantee you she will be my doula again.

Sarah was absolutely life-saving for us! Before Natalie was born, Sarah somehow managed to answer all of our questions, calm our fears and address issues that we didn't even know existed! I really liked her from the minute I met her and knew she would be the right doula for our family. She has an assertive and positive personality and I knew I would need someone like that to help me and my husband through the birth. She really guided us through all the "what ifs" and let us know that no matter what happened, everything would be ok. That reassurance is vital for new moms! She educated, informed and supported whatever decision we made. When the time finally came for Natalie to be born, Sarah was so calm and encouraging - we really couldn't have done it without her. I personally appreciated her staying with me throughout the whole process - even after Natalie was born. I'd recommend Sarah to anyone without hesitation. We love her! Thanks so much!!

Where shall I start? Sarah McKay was my anchor and saving grace before, during, and after baby. I paid her to be my birth doula, but she was so much more. She was a sounding board for medical advice, support pre and post baby, and a friend. She spent countless hours in my home, at the hospital, and on the phone with me. She was always there to answer my questions - and I had a lot of them. She never judged me for any decision I made, only gave me educated advice and support. Not only was she there during the birth to coach me through it, but she helped me with caring for my newborn, caring for myself, and breastfeeding. In fact, I attribute my success at breastfeeding to her. She came back to the hospital the day after my son was born to assist with a problem I was having and had she not done that, the hospital staff would have fed him formula for sure.
My son is now turning one and he is a healthy, happy boy. I am still breastfeeding and it's going well.
Hiring Sarah was the best decision I made during the entire birth process. Thank you, Sarah, for everything! I'll be calling you again!
