Client Testimonials for Madeleine McLaughlin

Madeleine was awesome during my pregnancy, labor and birth. She was there to listen to me vent and she went to an OB appt with me and even now postpartum she's been a valued friend.
My labor started around 10pm. I had been handling my contractions alright but I was starting to lose control in a bad way so I called Madeleine and told her I was ready for her to come.
Madeleine joining me was a turning point in my labor. She arrived just in time for a contraction. We hugged and swayed while she helped me vocalize effectively and “ride the wave”. She had a calming presence and simply being near her lessened the intensity of my contractions. My labor started to smooth out. Over the next few hours Madeleine swayed with me, suggested wonderful positions, helped my husband, kept me hydrated, and interacted with the hospital staff for me. I was deep into Laborland so most of my labor is a blur but I do remember that she suggested the perfect position during transition.
I birthed standing up and her eyes were my focal point. She continued to help me vocalize effectively and she was so encouraging.
My son was dead for two minutes immediately after his birth. Everyone was focused on him but Madeleine was there for me. She covered me with blankets so I wasn't exposed to the 20+ people in the room. She gave me what updates she was able to and she stayed with me after my son was intubated and rushed away. If she hadn't been there I would have been completely alone.
I can definitely say that without Madeleine I would not have had a birthing experience that I could look back on and smile. Yes, the immediate after-birth was awful but my actual labor and pushing was perfect. I was a birthing goddess and with Madeleine's inluence on my journey through Laborland I was able to have a healing and redeeming birth.

Having Madeleine as my doula was by far one of the greatest decisions that I made during my pregnancy. Not only was she super helpful during my pregnancy, but having her there for the birth of my son was invaluable. I'll be forever grateful to Madeleine for having been there to support me physically, mentally, and emotionally. Not only is she very kind, she's very knowledgeable and compassionate about her profession. There are certainly parts of my labor that I couldn't have done without her support. Having a doula to guide me during my pregnancy really helped prepare me for the labor and delivery of my beautiful son, but it was also beneficial during pregnancy since Madeleine was always there to answer my questions and provide advice and support. My doctor was great, but having the one-on-one attention from Madeleine was amazing and personal. She helped guide and prepare me for every new stage of my pregnancy and helped me know what to expect during labor and delivery. I would definitely love to have Madeleine as my doula for my other children! I would highly recommend all women to consider a doula for their pregnancy, and if Madeleine is your doula, consider yourself very lucky!
