I really appreciated working with Madeleine for my third birth! I had an epidural for my previous births and it just didn't work for me. I knew I was not getting an epidural again, but I was nervous. I just wasn't confident that I could handle labor without an epidural. I couldn't wrap my head around how I would cope.

I began doing research at the library. I found some great books and began to stratagize my birth. I knew that I'd need support, and I quickly decided that I could not put all of my expectations and fears on my husband. I just wasn't fair to him.

So again I began doing research. This time on doula's, and I discovered Madeleine's website. She had a recommended reading list that matched what I had already been reading from the library. I was impressed and lucky that she was available.

Madeleine was informative and supportive. She came armed with information, documentation, and facts. She helped me make decisions regarding my birth plan without telling me or judging me. Her demeanor was always consistent and so very calming to my type A, control freak, obsessive personality. It was a perfect match!

Madeleine was such a calming presence in the room as I delivered my third child.  I felt a sense of peace just knowing she was a part of my team.  Madeleine is very attuned to a birthing mothers needs and is very honoring of whatever birthing experience you are hoping for.  She is also very reliable and present leading up to the big day.  She was a great match for our family, and a wonderful gift to me.

While I was in labor with our now 18 month son, my contractions were quickly becoming stronger but I wasn't dilating. My doctor expressed a strong concern for a C-section during my 23 hour labor but I chose to wait. Madeleine made sure the nurses came to help me rotate from aside to side consistently since I had an epidural and couldn't walk. This helped me continue to dilate and have my son the natural way, and that wouldn't have happened without Madeleine's help. She's always willing to be your strongest advocate yet she is also gentle and compassionate. I felt so comfortable with her. She has a vast amount of books to borrow for both moms and dads to be and is all equipped with honey sticks, birth

Madeleine is an amazingly helpful and peaceful Doula. She did an excellent job at helping me be informed with all of my choices and eased my fears that I had had from my previous first birth that was unassisted by a doula. I know because of her and what she had taught me and just being there to help me say "yes" and "no" to certain procedures that everything went as I had hoped it would. She helped me stay relaxed with her calming presence and reassuring words and helpful touches. Having her apart of my birth was one of the best decisions I could have made for myself and my baby girl Rylee. My husband agreed that it was a good choice to have a doula with us as well and she even helped him relax too. Thank You Madeleine for your help and being apart of our daughter's birth and one of the greatest days of our lives.

Madeleine was awesome during my pregnancy, labor and birth. She was there to listen to me vent and she went to an OB appt with me and even now postpartum she's been a valued friend.

My labor started around 10pm.  I had been handling my contractions alright but I was starting to lose control in a bad way so I called Madeleine and told her I was ready for her to come.

Madeleine joining me was a turning point in my labor. She arrived just in time for a contraction. We hugged and swayed while she helped me vocalize effectively and “ride the wave”. She had a calming presence and simply being near her lessened the intensity of my contractions. My labor started to smooth out. Over the next few hours Madeleine swayed with me, suggested wonderful positions, helped my husband, kept me hydrated, and interacted with the hospital staff for me. I was deep into Laborland so most of my labor is a blur but I do remember that she suggested the perfect position during transition.

I birthed standing up and her eyes were my focal point. She continued to help me vocalize effectively and she was so encouraging.

My son was dead for two minutes immediately after his birth. Everyone was focused on him but Madeleine was there for me. She covered me with blankets so I wasn't exposed to the 20+ people in the room. She gave me what updates she was able to and she stayed with me after my son was intubated and rushed away. If she hadn't been there I would have been completely alone.

I can definitely say that without Madeleine I would not have had a birthing experience that I could look back on and smile. Yes, the immediate after-birth was awful but my actual labor and pushing was perfect. I was a birthing goddess and with Madeleine's inluence on my journey through Laborland I was able to have a healing and redeeming birth.

Having Madeleine as my doula was by far one of the greatest decisions that I made during my pregnancy. Not only was she super helpful during my pregnancy, but having her there for the birth of my son was invaluable. I'll be forever grateful to Madeleine for having been there to support me physically, mentally, and emotionally. Not only is she very kind, she's very knowledgeable and compassionate about her profession. There are certainly parts of my labor that I couldn't have done without her support. Having a doula to guide me during my pregnancy really helped prepare me for the labor and delivery of my beautiful son, but it was also beneficial during pregnancy since Madeleine was always there to answer my questions and provide advice and support. My doctor was great, but having the one-on-one attention from Madeleine was amazing and personal. She helped guide and prepare me for every new stage of my pregnancy and helped me know what to expect during labor and delivery. I would definitely love to have Madeleine as my doula for my other children! I would highly recommend all women to consider a doula for their pregnancy, and if Madeleine is your doula, consider yourself very lucky!
