Oesa Hauch is truly amazing. My husband and I went through at 29 hour labor and delivery at the hospital before my baby girl was born. Oesa was right by our side for the enitre 29 hours plus some before she went home to her own husband and kids patiently waiting for her. Oesa helped us both along the way feel good about the birth process. I really wanted a vaginal delivery with as little intervention as possible. We had a very successful vaginal birth. Baby and Mom are both doing great. It was also very important for me to breast feed and Oesa has been helping me be sucessful from pre-visits at our house talking about it, to giving me help in the hospital, coming to my house for a check in and more lactation help. She is also able to do post-partum doula services as time allows for her clients. Her main focus is supporting moms and couples through the entire birth. I feel so lucky to have been referred by friends to her. Oesa was super supportive by helping me manage contractions, by relieving my husband when he needed a break, and when the time came encouraging me and holding my leg when it was time to push. I am overwelmed just thinking about it.
-Anna New Mother day 11
We couldn't have been more pleased with having Oesa be our doula for the birth of our first child, Caitlin. From the moment we meet we felt comfortable and knew that her experience would be just what we needed to make the birth experience as positive as possible. Through the two pre-natal appointments we were able to share with her my fears about labor and delivery and my husband's physical limitations in supporting me through the process. Not only did she calm my fears. She was able to support me 200% though every contraction and enable my husband to be a critical support in the capacity he was able. I greatly appreciated her availability to speak with me numerous times as I began early labor. During labor and delivery she was invaluable to keeping me focused and encouraged to get through the tough stages that would have otherwise made me give up on a natural/birth center birth. We also greatly appreciated how she collaborated with the midwife to ensure labor was progressing. She took note of what worked and didn't work for me and used that information to get me through the final stage of delivery. Also, as a lactation consultant she walked me through breast feeding Caitlin right after delivery. During our post partum home visit she took care to check on us physically and emotionally by asking us what we thought of our experience and if we had a chance to process all the events over the previous few days.
We cannot say enough good things about Oesa Hauch. Oesa gave us information about breastfeeding, labor, and coping strategies. Oesa eased my fears by giving me a ton of information in our pre labor meetings. My water broke a week early and Oesa was there for the 22 hrs of labor, starting with a phone call at 3am. She helped me visualize, breathe through each contraction & offered options--like using the labor ball or going to the tub--when it was clear I needed a change. I planned to not use any drugs. But, the contractions became too intense & I needed an epidural. I was disappointed, but she reassured me about my decision. My husband agreed Oesa was vital to his experience: She made sure he was hydrated & allowed him take breaks, so he could be alert to help me. During the first moments with our baby, Oesa took pictures. Looking back, I treasure those images of our first moments with our daughter. Oesa was amazing and we will certainly have Oesa as our doula again!
My husband and I had our first baby, and hired Oesa Hauch as our doula. Oesa proved to be a knowledgeable, positive, and supportive influence on the day of our baby's arrival. I did not choose natural child birth. I was induced, and was very clear about wanting medication for pain up front. Contrary to other doulas I interviewed, Oesa was completely supportive of my decision. I felt that Oesa's extra support on the day of my baby's birth, whether she was helping me cope with labor before the epidural, bring things that I needed, or helping to create a positive atmosphere, caused myself and my husband to feel calm, focused, and able to experience the joy of the occasion. I highly recommend Oesa no matter what kind of birth plan is desired.
Oesa was the first of a handful of doulas I planned on interviewing before choosing who I wanted to support my husband and I during my labor. I felt immediately comfortable with her after our first meeting, so much so that I didn’t even bother to interview anyone else. She was incredibly knowledgeable and readily available for any random questions right from the time we met to our postpartum visit (I would even feel comfortable contacting her now if something came up). She was great support not only to me but to my husband as well. She also worked very well with the nurses and in fact was complimented by one of them to that regard. I would highly recommend Oesa! She is fantastic!
Having Oesa at the birth of our daughter was one of the best and most important decisions we made in preparing for our first child birth experience. We felt Oesa was a tremendous resource as we prepared for and educated ourselves about the different aspects and decisions surrounding childbirth. We never felt judged about the decisions we made or the flexibility we needed regarding our birth plan. We always felt Oesa's support regardless of the decisions we made. I had an unusually short and intense labor and Oesa came to the hospital right away, assessed how I was doing, and stepped right in to make me more comfortable and help me meet my goal of a natural child birth. I truly don't think I could have done it without Oesa's constant and steady support through my labor. She does a great job of reading the situation and slipping in to best support it, without taking away from the interaction my husband was providing. She also worked really well with the nursing team and my care provider. Oesa truly has a gift and you can tell she loves what she does - I would highly recommend her without hesitation to anyone preparing for childbirth, regardless of your birth plan. We will definitely be using her for baby number two!
Before our first trip to the center, Oesa talked us through the contractions and helped us decide on when it was time to go in. I got to 5cm and 75%effaced, they stopped abruptly after 5 hours so we went home. She then met with us again at 2:30am. Sadly after another few hours, I became 85%effaced and went home. I felt discouraged. She reassured me that progress is progress and I shouldn't be sad. Her words, voice, and touch were very soothing. Later that day, we went back in, everything seemed like this was finally the time I was going to get to meet my lovely child that was a surprise gender; I was even 7cm apon arrival. After hours of being there, the contractions didn't die off but there was no change. I was completely exhausted. I felt I caved in because I decided to go to the hospital for an epidural. Oesa supported my decision and told me I wasn't "caving in". She assured me that I tried very hard to have the birth I planned, but she felt that my child was OP. Sure enough, after the second try of the epidural, the doc broke my water (which was bulging out of my cervix), he checked and my child was still -2 and OP. After a few hours on petocin, no change, it was time for a c-section. I was very scared. She came in the room with me and my husband and took such amazing photos; I'm so happy for the captured first moments with our lovely daughter. She even helped have it so my husband could still tell me the gender and have her placed right on my chest after birth, which is almost unheard of with a c-seciton. After 55 1/2 hours, I got the end result I wanted; a beautiful healthy baby. Oesa is such a loving, caring person; if my husband and I were to have another child, I wouldn't want anyone else. I'm so thankful for Oesa and she will always be in our lifes. There won't be a christmas or birthday of our daughter that she doesn't get a photo
Hiring Oesa was the best decision my husband and I made. I am certain that were it not for Oesa's constant care, support, and guidance, I would not have had the natural / vaginal childbirth I had planned on.
Oesa was available throughout the prenatal period, and she would check in with me after each of my prenatal appointments, especially once my due date came and went. Between the frequent e-mail communication and the two prenatal home visits, Oesa was a constant source of support for us as we prepared for the birth of our baby. Oesa was able to supplement our birth classes with a number of handouts and tips about coping with natural childbirth, and on topics ranging from breastfeeding to introducing the baby to our dog. Throughout this waiting period, Oesa was calm, supportive, and a source of information about whatever we had lingering questions about.
When it came time to give birth, Oesa helped me decide when to head for the hospital, coaching me through a pretty prolonged early labor -- and what would be a very prolonged active labor as well. She met us at the hospital within the hour, and stayed with us through a very long labor, which included a very challenging pushing stage (8 hours!). Oesa helped me stay calm and breathe through the pain. She continually suggested new positions, coping techniques, and assurance that I could do this, and kept me hydrated and focused even when things were not going according to plan. When I had to have a late-stage intervention, Oesa talked us through the decision making process. Oesa was a tremendous source of support for my husband as well, helping him support and soothe me, and offering him much-needed breaks to make sure he was taking care of his needs as well. She also was a fabulous liaison between both the hospital staff and our waiting family members, always making sure our requests were being honored.
We had an awesome experience with Oesa as our teacher and doula. We first
met Oesa at a meet and greet and instantly felt a connection with her. We
talked about our ideal birth experience and Oesa was confident that she
could help us accomplish our goals of having a natural birth. We also took
the Birthing from Within class with Oesa and found it very helpful.
We learned quite a few techniques to cope with the pain of labor and tools
to use during labor. We also had two prenatal appointments that were very
helpful in reviewing our goals for labor and addressing a few
last minute questions. Oesa was so thoughtful, she brought us information
on introducing our dogs to our new baby!
As my due date approached, Oesa and I were in contact quite frequently. We
checked in via email about every other day as my due date came and went,
much to my disappointment. Oesa kept me in good spirits and kept
encouraging me that my labor would start naturally without needing to be
induced. Finally, labor did start naturally and very quickly. It was a very
quick labor that didn't quite follow the "normal" pattern, but Oesa was
there on the phone with me calming me down and talking me through the
process. She joined us at the hospital as soon as she could and was a great
support for me and my husband. We made it through our surprisingly quick
and natural birth with much love and support from Oesa.
I would highly recommend Oesa to someone who is looking for a caring,
supportive and knowledgeable doula.
Oesa is simply amazing. My husband and I hired Oesa to be our doula after taking a private birth class with her. We felt so comfortable with her right away. She is such an awesome person that it's hard not to love being around her. We really looked forward to every visit from her.
We had planned a home birth but after the baby was 2 weeks late we were induced. I was having horrible back and hip labor. My contractions were a minute and a half long and only 3 seconds apart. I had no time to breath. Oesa jumped in and helped me focus on breathing and moaning through the contractions like we had practiced. After several hours the baby and I were stressed out enough, his heart rate dropped with every contraction at that point. Even though I had wanted to do this all natural I felt it best, for the both of us, to get an epidural. The baby's heart rate kept dropping though so I had an emergency c-section.
Because of the classes with Oesa and her constant encouraging words I didn't feel cheated out of the birth of my child. We had always known there was a chance of a c-section but the coping skills and awareness of the situations at hand learned in our classes helped both my husband and I though what could have been a very scary time for us. Oesa stayed with us in the OR and held my hand while my husband went to check on our son right after he was born. I was so glad she was by my side. We wouldn't have wanted anyone else with us. We couldn't have asked for a more caring, wonderful person to be our doula. I recommend Osea to EVERYONE having a baby, first time moms especially but even experienced moms. Never underestimate the power of caring, experienced support during childbirth.
Hello-
My husband and I attended Birthing from Within classes with Oesa prior to giving birth to our son, Kyle. Each class was extremely informative, very relaxing, and allowed plenty of opportunity for 1x1 questions with Oesa each week! At the conclusion of the classes, we thought so highly of Oesa that we opted to have her be a part of our birth as our Doula!
Oesa exceeded my expectations during every minute of my 20+ hour birth! She was extremely supportive, energetic and positive during every phase of my labor. She helped us make informed decisions throughout my birth, ensuring we were always mindful of the "next best option". I would highly recommend Oesa's pre-birth classes, as well as Doula services, as my husband and I could not have made it without her!

I can only say good things about our experience with Oesa. She was very informative during the pregnancy and the early stages of labor. She joined us at the hospital and I truly believe she is the reason my birth plan was followed through with. I was very much ready to give into an epidural when she stepped in and helped me cope with the rest of my labor. She had great suggestions for changing positions to make things more comfortable and also for helping me relax and recover between each contraction. We feel very blessed to have had her at our daughter's birth.
Working with Oesa was a blessing right from the start. After meeting with her for an informal meet and greet, my husband and I felt an instant connection with her. We hired her on the spot. She was so helpful and supportive in the prenatal period, providing 2 prenatal appointments in home. During these appointments, we talked about our vision for the birth and how Oesa could help make that happen. We discussed anything from our birth plan to relaxation techniques, to how she could bring my husband and I closer together during labor. She never rushed us during these appointments, it was almost as if we were her only clients, even though I know she had others. The days leading up to labor and delivery, Oesa was a great support. She was available day or night for me to call or email with questions and to get support and advise. Since this was our first baby, there were several things we didn’t know and she was more than willing to answer any questions we had. It was almost like she had been with us since we first found out we were pregnant. When I finally went into labor, a week overdue, she was exactly what my husband and I needed. She really helped me to not feel afraid and to believe in myself. I can honestly say I could not have done it without her.A few days after birth, Oesa even came to my house for a postpartum appointment. She spent several hours with me – answering any questions I had about nursing, emotions, concerns, and anything else I needed. She was a great encouragement. I could not have asked for a more supportive and caring Doula than Oesa. She truly is like a member of the family now and I would recommend her to anyone.
We had the great pleasure of meeting Oesa and having her as both our birth educator, and as our doula. For our birthing classes, she brought a level of experience that covered a wide range of possibilities - caesarian, home birth, hospital birth - and was able to speak about each one in a way that validated and honored the uniqueness of each experience. At no point during our classes did we feel pushed toward one style of birth over another, but rather felt as though our personal preferences were always met with respect and encouragement, while still holding sacred and educating us on all the other possible paths to a healthy birth.
As our doula, we honestly could not have asked for a more attentive, devoted and amazing partner. We had what many might consider a traumatic birth experience, but with Oesa by our side through the entire process, we walked through it together with grace, dignity, fun, and adventure. And on the other side of it all, we came out with an absolutely gorgeous baby girl, who was helped into the world by loving parents, grandparents, a fairy-godmother, and the BEST doula we could possibly have hoped for.
Oesa is cool headed without being emotionally detached. She is a woman of deep wisdom, a great sense of humor and adventure, and above all, respectful and honoring of the desires of her clients. We recommend her without hesitation! She is, quite simply, FANTASTIC, FABULOUS, and a JOY to work with!
The Latta Family LOVES you Oesa!
I didn't get to use Oesa as our doula, but rather as our birth educator. I would have liked to have hired Oesa as our birth doula, but our schdules didn't work out. Oesa is so thorough in giving information. Each time I presented her with a question, she gave me information to help me think outside of the box. She is very kind and generous with her knowledge and her time. She has a wonderful down to earth personality that both my husband and I felt at ease with. I would definitely recommend taking her birth classes and interviewing her to be your doula.

As soon as we met Oesa, my husband and I knew that we wanted to be able to have her as our doula for the birth of our first child in February 2012. She was kind, open, direct, and extremely knowledgeable. We wanted someone who could be straightforward with us while being sensitive, and Oesa never disappointed us. She helped us prepare and process for our delivery in the final weeks before our due date. I had some harder moments prior to my due date, and Oesa was a quick phone call away. She helped me to keep from feeling overwhelmed as I tried to prepare to leave work, and she helped me process how I was feeling about some disappointing final medical appointments. I had hoped to have a natural birth, but was two weeks late, and ended up having to be induced. Oesa wanted to be there in the hospital to help me work towards labor even before I went into active labor. When active labor never came and a series of (unwanted) interventions had to occur, Oesa was by my side to give me positive feedback in the way I was handling what was happening, to support me in my decisions, and to acknowledge my feelings and provide comfort for me as I went through emotions of sadness and anxiousness to prepare for a c-section in the middle of the night. She also was hugely supportive to my husband throughout the entire process, especially when we were separated for a half hour prior to my c-section. He felt very comfortable with her at all times. Oesa was there to help me make it through the surgery, and captured some beautiful moments with pictures when I first saw our son. Our postpartum visit was extremely helpful to process what had happened, and to give me reassurance that I was doing great job with my son. I still feel like she is available to me in case I need her. Working with Oesa was honestly the best choice we made through all the things we did to prepare for the birth of our child.
