Deitra (Dee) Mixer - 9 Months & Beyond, LLC

I highly recommend Deitra Mixer and could not have had such a great delivery experience without her! I was very hesitant on whether I needed a doula or not and really wanted to have a delivery without an epidural. I knew some friends that put me in contact with Dee. I decided last minute to hire Dee and the only regret I had was not deciding earlier so that I could benefit from the help she could have given me up to the delivery. Dee let me know that she had other women due near my due date and introduced me to a few other doula’s since there could be a possibility I would need to use them. Dee was definitely my first choice. Her love for Christ is reflected in her work! She came to my house at midnight when I really started contractions. I did not know this at the time but she had no sleep because she had just helped another client in a delivery right before coming to attend to me. She had her phone stolen at the hospital and miraculously had it returned all while staying calm and keeping me calm and relaxed through my contractions. She helped me make the decision on when to go to the hospital. She facilitated a great relationship between my husband and me through the whole experience! All you men out there will appreciate your wife having a doula- you will look like a saint and stay calm through it all as well! Dee is calm, soft spoken but confident, so you feel empowered to do what you need to do- deliver a baby! Even though I only knew her for a short time, it was such an emotional and monumental time in my life that I will always love, admire, and respect Dee! My husband and I have even discussed hanging out in Florida for a while if God gives me another baby, so we will be close to the best doula!

When I had my little girl last year I decided that I wanted to have a doula to help me through my labor and delivery and I was abundantly blessed to find Dee. I will never forget how gentle she was and how patient and caring her presence was to me while I labored. My daughter was induced and the labor was extremely difficult but Dee was with me every step of the way, comforting me and helping me to focus and be calm. She utilized massage wonderfully and assisted me with changing positions to promote the progression of labor. Due to her assistance I managed to avoid an epidural while laboring with pitocin for over seven hours. When the doctor insisted on a C-section Dee continued to support me. She gave guidance and encouragement to my husband, who was every bit the nervous new Dad, and even made certain that we had pictures of our baby. After our daughter was born Dee continued to offer support including tips on breast-feeding and how to cope with colic. I will never forget Dee or her gentleness and I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone who is expecting a new baby!!!!

Dee was above and beyond anything I imagined getting in a doula. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her! In the weeks leading up to my birth, she was so attentive, sending me encouraging emails with prayers and quotes and Scripture. During labor, she intuitively knew what to say and do, what questions to ask, what would help me get through a contraction. She helped me feel confident in my desires/decisions. And she was skillful at equipping and encouraging my husband to jump in and support me--she struck a really great balance of doing what she knew best how to do without pushing my husband out at all.

Her support through labor was incredible--but it didn't stop there. As soon as my baby was born, she grabbed my camera and captured some priceless pictures of our first moments together. Her postpartum follow-up was equally helpful and encouraging--and for her to encapsulate my placenta for me was an unbelievable gift! Then she continued to go above and beyond by making phone calls and arrangements for me to get the lactation help I needed.

I am unspeakably grateful to Dee for helping to make my second birth a vastly different and more positive experience than my first. I would recommend her or hire her again in a second.
