Knowing that Sheila would be there for my birth gave me so much confidence. I had my own share of knowledge, but being my first birth, I needed someone there to reinforce and remind me of what to do. She helped me stay calm and create a more peaceful birth that I'm positive I wouldn't have had without her. She steadied my emotions and eased my fears. Along with being there for me in every emotional way possible, she was also there to cling to, literally. All I had to say is "oh Sheila," and there were her hands. I'm surprised her hands have any feeling left after I squeezed all night! I don't think we were more than an arms length apart from each other during my labor. She was there and I could count on that! This ended up being a great blessing because my husband was driving from Twin Falls and made it for the last 35 minutes. If anyone is debating to get a doula or not, I strongly urge you to, especially on your first birth. Sheila somehow knew what to say and do to give encouragement and empowerment for me to have strength. I'm proud that she was my doula.
Having Sheila be there for the birth of our first child was one of the best decisions we ever made. We had such an amazing birth experience and it wouldn't have been the same without her. Sheila came highly recommended from a close friend of mine. I went into labor the day of one of my appointments and she came with us. I went home for a while after my appointment and later Sheila came to our home before we left for the birthing center and helped us with different ways to deal with pain. She was great in helping my husband help me. I had a long labor (total of 36 hours). She stayed with us all night and all through the next day. Sheila and my husband would take turns helping me (it was so wonderful that they were able to get some rest). She was so encouraging through the entire process. I never had to worry about anything because she was always there showing us what to do and providing suggestions. Our experience would have been completely different if she hadn't been there to take care of us. I would highly recommend Sheila to anyone that wants peace of mind during labor and delivery. She took excellent care of us and I hope she will be a part of any future births we may have.
Sheila was such a blessing to have during the birth of our first baby boy. My husband and I had done a lot of research on our own before hand in preparation for the birthing process and honestly felt we would be fine without using a doula. However all of our learned knowledge went out the window after the first several hours of labor but thankfully my birthing center had a doula on call. From the first moment Sheila stepped foot into my birthing suite she put our minds at ease with her gentle and caring encouragement as she helped us work through this amazing process together. I honestly don't know what I would have done without her.
Sheila is so knowledgeable and passionate about her work and I am really looking forward to having her around from the beginning next go around.
When we discovered I was pregnant with our second child, we decided to use a birthing center instead of a hospital, because we wanted a more satisfying birth experience than we had with our first child. From the very beginning, we felt a peace about the decision, but we also felt something missing. I had tossed around the idea of a doula but was not sure about having a stranger in the room at such a personal moment. Then… I met Sheila.
I was introduced to Sheila through an odd chain of family connections. Our first few conversations were done over the internet, and yet, even then I could sense she was someone I could feel comfortable with. She genuinely cares for mothers and their newborns in a way that’s passionate and unique; she has a heart to serve women. She offered advice, encouragement & support without assuming we would hire her. Once I met Sheila in person, I knew immediately she was the missing piece to our birth puzzle. I had absolutely no fears or insecurities about her being in the room with us.
When my labor started, she was ready and willing to be with me at moment’s notice. She understood the process of labor clearly and knew how to “read” each contraction as they progressed. She never tried to take my husband’s place and instead encouraged him to be my main support. I had an overwhelming peace throughout my labor and I know part of it was because she was there, helping us. She was a tremendous blessing to us. I believe in my heart things went as smoothly as they did because of her assistance. She really was our missing piece.
Sheila also followed up with me regularly after our son was born, to see how both he and I were. To put it simply... Sheila cares! Her heart is pure and genuine. I believe she has wings for this role, as a doula.
I highly recommend Sheila Taylor, and plan to invite her to any future births we have.
Sheila was the Doula for the birth of our first son, Israel. We met Sheila while she was working on her certification. She came to our home to discuss what sort of birth we were wanting. We instantly felt comfortable with Sheila and her warm personality, it was an easy fit! She was available pre-birth for support and steered us in the right direction if we had questions outside of her expertise.
When birth time came, she met us at our home to assist with early labor and was very calm and helpful. At the birthing center, she helped my husband and I with coping tactics and really encouraged us to feel confident about the birthing process. She was available to help with whatever we needed. We loved that she was so readily available to support us but at the same time didn't interfere with any of the moments my husband and I wanted to share. I think she was especially helpful to give him to give ques, pointers and assure him that everything that was happening was normal and part of birth.
Sheila was everything we were expecting and wanting in a Doula! I felt so much more at peace, even during my most intense contractions, just knowing she was there and understood the birth process. She followed up with us, visiting us in the hospital when my son needed to be taken to the Nicu for an infection he later contracted and also visited us later at our home.
Sheila is a genuinely caring person who is passionate about birth and sincerely enjoys what she does! I would highly recommend her to anyone and will call her again for our next birth!
I just wanted to share the wonderful experience that my husband and I had with Sheila as our doula. We were her first birth on her own, but never would have known that if she hadn't told us before-hand! She was so great in keeping my husband calm and reminding him different things to do to help me best. She had a very quiet presence and added no stress or concern to the situation. Quite the opposite actually! She was soooooo encouraging when I was laboring. I had a very fast, intense labor for a first time mom and she helped me stay in control when I began to panic. She reminded me of everything that we learned in our class together, and helped me realize that what was happening to my body was good and necessary for my baby to get here. She was so wonderful! My husband and I were so happy that we decided to have her attend our birth. My daughter's birth was the happiest day of my life, and Sheila definitely helped make it special. The postpartum check up was great as well. It was so fun to talk about the birth together, and get her perspective as a doula. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone. I was a little hesitant at first to have a doula because I worried about having someone in there that I didn't know very well. Sheila made me feel comfortable the entire time, and that worry never even crossed my mind the whole birth. She is great!

I wanted to take a minute and write a quick recommendation for Sheila because our experience with her was incredible. I think my birth was her 10th and it felt like she was a pro at that point. She has a gentle spirit and a kind heart which we could sense the whole time. Sheila is very easy to communicate with as well, which is so important when you are going through birth. She was so understanding of the whole process which helped me feel comfortable as I proceeded through labor.
Thank you again Sheila. You truely have a gift!

We asked Sheila to be our doula, and that was the best decision we could have made! She was wonderful! When we met with her, there was something about her that calmed my prior anxieties about having a doula. I went past my due date, and anytime I called her, she was so encouraging! The day I went into labor, Sheila was an angel. She instructed me in different areas, which was very helpful because I didn't really know what I wanted. :) Sheila has a calm and in-control personality that makes her perfect for the job. She was reassuring and helpful throughout the whole labor. She gave me confidence that I could do it! After our baby was born, (in the middle of the night) she didn't hurry off, but waited until I was ready for her to go. If we ever decide to have more children, she will definitely be there for the labor and delivery! I highly recommend her to anyone, even if you weren't planning on having a doula!
