Katherine was a gift when I needed one most! As a single mom, I was struggling to adjust to the newness of everything when my daughter arrived home after a stint in the nicu for a birth defect. When Katherine arrived at my home in march of 2016, I was nervous to receive the same judgements I had felt from other people in my life. I was delighted to find her so warm and genuine, and we bonded immediately. She intuitively connected with my baby and taught me tricks for bed and naptime that worked wonders for us.  Even after I regularly saw her, she still didn't hesitate to be available at short notice after I was sleep deprived and struggling through what I now know was a sleep regression - thanks to Katherine's unending vault of knowledge! I never intended on having a post partum doula, but I truly believe everyone can benefit from the support, knowledge, and skill that a doula can offer, especially if that doula is Katherine!

I hired Katherine as an after birth doula when my son was born in September, 2013. Katherine did so much more than help

me around the house. She took care of my whole family’s emotional needs, she helped us establish new routines with our

son, and she taught us to feel confident as new parents.

Katherine arrived one week after my son was born. At that point, my husband and I we were sleep deprived and my son and

I hadn’t learned how to latch. I was almost ready to give up. Before Katherine arrived, I had already had three different

people unsuccessfully help me with breastfeeding. Katherine was the first person that explained the “hows and whys.” By the

end of her first day with us, Katherine had helped us latch successfully and had taught us various positions for nursing. She

made me feel confident in my own ability to breastfeed my son. I was amazed!

After several days of working with Katherine, I could breastfeed in three different positions, I was swaddling my son with

confidence, my deep freezer was stocked with large, nutritious meals that Katherine had prepared for the weeks to come, the

baby clothes were neatly folded and arranged by size in the nursery, and my husband and I had even managed to catch up

on some sleep.

In the years that I’ve known Katherine both personally and professionally, I’ve watched her pursue her passion

for supporting families and teaching children; I’ve seen her care for families that now consider her family; and I’ve watched

her raise two bright, sensitive, and beautiful children. She is an intelligent, resourceful, and warmhearted mother, friend, and

after birth doula and she will enrich the lives of any family that is lucky enough to work with her.
