Our experience with Tamrha was absolutely wonderful. We found her through a colleague and hired her when I was about 30 weeks pregnant. Though she lives more than an hour away from my home, Tamrha visited us several times here at our home and taught us a wonderful meditation called Calm Birth. She and I also stayed in close contact through phone, text and email toward the end of the pregnancy. On the morning than my water broke we spoke with her several times and finally decided that she should meet us at the hospital when we arrived. She stayed with us through the labor, delivery and for a few hours after the birth to help with breastfeeding and getting us packed up to move into the postpartum room. Tamrha's calm, wise presence was incredible during my long, hard labor and she never left my side. She worked wonderfully with my husband, my midwife and the Southampton Hospital staff. I think that without Tamrha's reassurances and help during contractions I would not have been able to stick to my birth plan and have an unmedicated vaginal birth. Our son's birth was everything we dreamed. Thank you Tamrha.

Tamrha was an excellent, excellent doula. She showed up at my house at 3 am, when a phone call from my planned original doula came that I had gone into labor the night she was scheduled to leave on her family vacation. As agreed, Tamrha came as the back-up, and walked into my house as I was going into transition. She knew right away what to do, and helped me figure out how to get in the car in the most comfortable way possible for my hour ride to the hospital in full-fledged final labor! She was very calm and knowledgeable. She helped me stay calm as I went through my final moments of labor, unmedicated and in a huge amount of pain! I decided to change my plan and ask for an epidural and Tamrha didn't pressure me either way, just talked to me calmly even though I didn't really care what anyone was saying to me at the time! I ended up being fully dilated and ready to push when I was examined so I did end up with my natural birth and having an experienced doula with me the entire time was an integral part of my having the birth I always wanted.
The pushing stage of my labor became a grueling marathon, and I don't know how I wouldn't have gotten through it without my support team of my mom, my husband, great midwives, and Tamrha. Everyone contributed in a different way - knowing that Tamhra had been at so many natural births gave me a lot of psychological support...I ended up looking to her for reassurance a lot, as someone educated in birth, and it helped tremendously when she told me it was okay, it was normal and natural for a birth to go the way mine was going (in other words, really really slowly!). I would absolutely, 100% recommend Tamrha to anyone for any type of birth, in any setting. She is experienced, passionate, knowledgeable and caring about women, babies and the birth process.
