At the recommendation of my birth doula I contacted Amy to encapsulate my placenta. She drove to my house in a foot of snow, which took close to an hour, to pick up the placenta. Even though we had never met she went this extra mile for me. She returned the next day and provided me with the capsules and dried pieces exactly the way I requested. She went through directions with me and sincerely offered to answer future questions. Her service was professional and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend having your placenta encapsulated. The capsules helped with Post Partum Depression, physical healing and milk supply.
Amy is a happy soul with a calm presence, three children, and the steadiest pair of brown eyes that you could ever look into and feel a sense of peace. She is professional, and organized and very generous and calm and she greatly contributed to be positive experience of my birth. She is very experienced and can handle many situations.
Having two young spirited boys, Ethan age 4 and Isaac age 2, at home and wanting to birth at home didn’t seem like it was going to be synergistic. I wanted my husband with me during labor and birth and we wanted our boys to be able to be there as they wished. It was obvious that we needed someone who was both comfortable with birth and great with our kids. My midwife suggested that I talk to Amy about being a sibling doula for my boys at our home birth. After talking to Amy for about 5 minutes I felt this huge piece of our birth puzzle fell into place, I was put completely at ease by Amy. She understood our needs and was completely open to helping us have the birth we wanted. Amy is understanding, caring, knowledgeable and easy going.
After our little girl was born, Lylah Rayne, we also engaged Amy as a post-partum doula. Again, she was more than valuable in helping me get some extra needed sleep during the recovery period after birth. She also helped my two older boys become adjusted to the idea of a new family member. I can’t thank her enough for the times her understanding ear and calm presence helped me reground when those inevitable post-partum hormone fluctuations kicked in.
After our birth Amy stayed to start the process of encapsulating Lylah’s placenta. I started taking the capsules 3 days after Lylah’s birth. So far I feel that it has really helped in my post-partum recovery. A week after Lylah’s birth I can say without hesitation that I felt great! I found my recovery with my two earlier pregnancies were very long. After this birth I feel fantastic physically and mentally and attribute much of my quick recovery to the help and services that Journey Birth Services provided to me and my family.
Amy was an integral part of our entirely positive birth experience. I would whole-heartedly recommend any of the services Journey Birth Services offers.
We just used Amy this past April for the birth of our son Grayson. She was wonderful. Very warm, welcoming and generous with her time and help. She is very well experienced so she knew what to expect with our hospital (Christiana Care) and that helped a lot. She also was willing to travel all the way down to our house in Delaware, since there aren't any Doulas in Delaware these days. Her childbirth education classes were so perfect, we felt very well prepared and ready to go.
I would HIGHLY recommend Amy to anyone looking for a doula in southern PA or Delaware!
Amy was such a wonderful doula who assisted with the birth of my first child, which was only 6 months after the birth of her third! My husband and I met with her twice before going into labor. These sessions were great "meet and greets." She was so flexible with timing of these to accommodate both of our work schedules. Once I went into labor we stayed in close communication until she determined it would be best to come to our home (which was 10 minutes from hers - very convenient). She was fantastic during what turned out to be this early labor period. She helped me to focus on my contractions and gave my husband much needed breaks. Once it was determined that we should go to the hospital she followed closely behind us. After a few hours at the hospital it was determined that I was still in early labor such that I had two options - drugs or go home and labor further. We decided to leave and labor further at home. She took a brief break to feed her youngest and then rejoined us at home. Once back at the hospital several hours later she didn't leave my side during the harder labor and was such a great emotional support when it was determined that I could not have a vaginal birth, but that a c-section would be necessary. She is so knowledgeable about birth, complications and newborn screenings - she assisted us every step of the way as questions arose about meds for me and birthing techniques. She even came into the OR with us so once the baby was born my husband could stay with him and she could stay with me. Following my son's birth, she stayed with us longer still until I was situated back in my room. Only then did she leave us. Truly a wonderful experience (minus the undesired c-section which obviously was out of Amy's control - LOL!). We still stay in touch and would use her again for our next child for sure!!

Let me just start off by saying that I lOVE Amy Borrelli. We have adopted her as "Aunt Amy" in our home. The reason why is because of her amazing ability to care for her clients. I must say that during my labor it was so incredibly refreshing to have her right there beside me telling me how wonderful I was doing. Even prior to the birth of my son my husband and I took her child birth classes and we always had a great time. She has a very down to earth personality and a sence of humor to boot. We are forever grateful to have had Amy as part of our birth experience. Amy will be forever embedded in our hearts and our son will grow up knowing that he was surrounded with love during his birth.
