Betsy Morton was an integral part of the empowering and beautiful birth of my daughter 6 years ago. Throughout my pregnancy and 12 hours of labor, Betsy was a constant source of support and inspiration. She was not only a tremendous resource, she was also THE key factor to the success of the birth! She remained calm and nurturing for the duration of the labor and advocated for needs that I did not even know I had! The resounding memory I have of Betsy from that night are her cool hands and sweet voice. I felt so safe and protected with her by my side and her energy alone made the birth experience peaceful for me and my child. I give Betsy the highest recommendation possible! She was a true blessing and my family!

Betsy was amazing during our birth experience. She helped us plan for every step of the way how we wanted our birth to go. In the end, when circumstances out of our control changed everything, Betsy stuck right with us. She kept my husband calm while I was being prepped for a C-section and was with us the entire time. It was a relief to know that when our baby girl arrived, my husband could go with her and Betsy stuck with me. What an added bonus that she is a MASSAGE doula :)

After our baby girl arrived she came to our house to give me a massage and teach me how to do infant massage on our daughter. We still keep in touch and have met on a few occasions just so she can continue to get to know our new family. I would absolutely recommend her for your birth experience. Her calm and steady voice (and hands!!) will help you to enjoy whatever birth experience you end up with!

My midwives referred me to Betsy when I was expecting my first child in 2005. I was impressed right away with her kind, gentle manner. During pre-delivery meetings, we discussed my attitudes about labor, pain relief, and medical interventions. She did not try to push any of her beliefs on me, and made it clear that she was there to support me, no matter what I chose. As my due date approached, she invited me to her house to show me some different exercises on the birthing ball. She also treated me to a massage when we were done, which was wonderful! By the last week of pregnancy, I was getting nervous about the delivery and worried about going past my due date. Betsy suggested we meet for lunch on that date, so even if I didn’t go into labor, I would still have something fun and special to do on that day.
One day later, when my water broke at 1 a.m, I called Betsy and told her I was on my way to the hospital. She arrived soon after, with the birth ball in tow. :-) Unfortunately for me, my baby was one of those “sunny side up” kids! My labor was very uneven... I was so grateful I had Betsy by my side! She held my hand, breathed with me, and was such a calming, steady presence the whole time. After 14 hours of labor, I finally requested an epidural. That took away the labor pains, but I had an awful time trying to push him out—almost three hours! Betsy was right there, giving me comfort and encouragement. Eventually, a doctor delivered my son with forceps. What a long 23 hours it had been! I am so glad I had her help!
Betsy visited me at home several times after the delivery. She even came bearing herbs from her own garden to help with my healing from the episiotomy. If I have more children, I deinitely want Betsy there again. She was kind, caring, and very knowledgeable. She was definitely my rock during a difficult labor and delivery, and I can’t recommend her enough!
